Hindus not keeping religious occasions when death?

Thanks for the explanation. It is a standard time of one year for all "westernized" hindus in my circles so no it does not have anything to do with the closeness of a passed one. This is why I had thought it was Hindu law for all hindus to wait for that time. One of my questions was however, is...

Hindus not keeping religious occasions when death?

Hey guys, hope you all doing great and being safe? I would like to inquire about this situation please. Recently one of my Aunts passed, she was an Ordained Christian Minister. My mom said she will not be celebrating the upcoming divali occasion as she would need to wait for one year "to...

Which commandments could Jesus be referring to Matthew 5:17?

I think that is at the heart of this, they take what he said that he came to fulfill the law as meaning that by his death he fulfilled the law for us so we don't have to.

Which commandments could Jesus be referring to Matthew 5:17?

Not in my encounters as MOST Christians I have spoken to says the law was nailed to the cross so no longer applicable to Christians.

Which commandments could Jesus be referring to Matthew 5:17?

I think to be saved you/we joined with the Hebrews, took on their customs, and worshiped their God alone so not understanding why you would say Christ's words did not apply to us? Ruth’s reply to Naomi was the clearest example of this, “For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I...

Which commandments could Jesus be referring to Matthew 5:17?

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have...

What code of conduct or laws do Christians follow?

Living under grace is not a license to sin. Nor does it mean everything that pops into our pea brains or black hearts is from God. So I think to be “led by the Spirit” alone can be a catch phrase for “I will decide what is right for me, do what I want, and be my own god.” We still need to...

What code of conduct or laws do Christians follow?

Well, wait a minute, I am now thinking if God's new Convenant was to write his commandments in our hearts then why would we still not be obligated to obey "his" commandments?

What code of conduct or laws do Christians follow?

Meantime though, all that's mentioned in Galatians seems to not include some key Commandments like loving God with all your might and loving thy neighbor as thyself e.t.c, what's the situation with this please?

What code of conduct or laws do Christians follow?

Thank you, at first glance I can see what you mean and would seem to explain God's new convenant to "write his commands in our hearts". I will go read more in-depth now on what you've suggested.

What code of conduct or laws do Christians follow?

So guys, since most Christians believe that God's 10 Commandments doesn't apply to them and only to the Israelites and since Christ fulfilled the law for them so they are now under grace and nailed to the cross and all that. I am wondering by what laws or code of conduct do they live by if not...

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

So we come back to the same basic issue, are christians to take Christ's teachings and commandments as he said them and follow/obey them or do you do your own thing?

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

If so, what about the no sex before marriage law?

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

The question then I think is what makes a person Christian? is it listening to and following every teaching and command of Christ or simply saying "hey, I believe in Christ" so I am a christian.

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

So guys, does this mean we should consider a divorced woman who takes Christ's words to heart and lives her life alone as being a truly Christian woman and those who don't as not being truly Christian?

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

Actually I was inquiring about a close friend of mine. She divorced her husband not due to a any abuse. She then said she became born again after the divorce so the "slate was wiped clean" that she is a new person in Christ so has a new life and would not be considered a married woman anymore...

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

If so, how does the 'forgiveness" and grace for sin play into this? Just because they sinned, if they repented, doesn't this give them a right to pursue a new life instead of having to live alone?

Are divorced women supposed to live alone?

We all know christ said one must not marry a divorced woman so what are these women supposed to do for the rest of their lives, live alone?
