Yes this is the point. If a person is quoting verses claiming they are saying what they are implying , then ask them for their understanding giving the context also . Not Just quoting a single verse . Many people never think to ask for the explanation with the surrounding passages ( context) ...
From my perspective Jehovah’s witnesses and Islam is similar in that they both pervert Jesus . They both have similar ideas on 'religion ' namely 'works righteousness. Which leads to hell .
I'm not sure i see anything in the Bible thats not simply said, that isn't true . The accounts in Genesis are plainly stated . It would say ' created old ' or something along these lines .
Starting with Col 1.15 could you walk me through the surrounding passages with the thrust of why Paul is saying what he is saying as to why you reach that conclusion?
Isaiah 44:24
“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens ALONE ; that spreadeth abroad the earth BY MYSELF ;”
'Jehovah' did not have help . Jesus is Jehovah . The Father is Jehovah . The Holy...
But the bible says that ' Jehovah 'had no 'assistance ' or ' help ' .
Isaiah 44:24
“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone ; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself ;”
You miss the entire Point Paul is making . Colossians is about Jesus being the ' head ' of ALL . its to refute Gnostic ideas and the very thing your saying . That Jesus was Just another Spirit creature/ powerful Angel ect . The irony is amazing.
Notice a jehovah witness , a Catholic, a Mormon, SDA ect ,will never walk you through the context of the verse they bring up . They will never tell you what the Author is trying to say ,or what the central idea of the text is about . All that matters is ' proof texting ' . This is eiesegesis...
' Firstborn ' can mean in some instances ' first one out of the womb ' ,but it also means ' preeminence ' ' OVER all . Seeing as the context is that Jesus is the head , the creator of all things ,which ' first born ' do you think this means? Remember there is no mother God.
