    Is Christianity logical?

Technically, Christianity is not logical, because of the Trinity. "The Father is God" and "The Son is God" and "there is only one God" => The Father is the Son. But the credo says: The Father and the Son are two separate persons. This is a very obvious logical contradiction. And it proves...

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

This is how thinking advances. By generalizing concepts. If you are pissed off because I came up with this idea and not you then it is too bad for you. Such stubborn refusal as you display is generally the telltale sign of envy, a not very admirable sentiment, don't you think?

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

Masturbation, in an ordinary sense = stimulation of sexual organs and attendant neural wiring in order to get pleasure. Music = stimulation of auditory organs and attendant neural wiring in order to get pleasure. Elaborate cooking = stimulation of gustatory organs and attendant neural wiring in...

Mythism : Did the prophets actually exist?

As I said in another thread, I believe that most prophets are composite characters i.e. that their official "biographies" contain a certain amount of genuine annecdotes belonging to the lives of actual people (often several) bound together by a fictional narrative. In the case of Jesus, there...

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

Sure. Yet agreement is valuable, even if not complete.

    Rejection of Islam

Indeed. May I ask about your background in general terms (country of birth, age, branch of Islam, current country of residence, education) Personally, I am French, now residing in India for business purposes, 48 years old, education in Science (PhD in Computer Science), studied history of...

    Rejection of Islam

I think that, like Jesus, Muhammad is a composite character, made up of a certain amount of real annecdotes about real people (some regional holy men in the VIth-VIIth century Middle East) and a hefty dose of invented narrative material. There is a good case to be made that the word "muhammad"...

    Rejection of Islam

I think you should read these books: Early Islam edited by K.H. Ohlig The Syro-Aramaic Reading of the Koran by Cristoph Luxenberg. Did Muhammad Exist? by Robert Spencer The gist of what they say is: Muhammad never existed. The Quran is a compilation of heretical Christian texts of various...

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

Masturbation is chiefly in the head, through porn/fantasies. The hand is just the visible sign. "You are all sinners" was a salutary blow to the head. And I belive that "you all jerk off" can be too. I am glad you agree.

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

I have belief, faith even. But not in God as he is traditionally depicted. That language no longer works. It was beautiful and did a lot of good but there is no point in hanging on to it now that it is discredited. The fact is that all the stories about the One God of the Bible no longer...

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

Not necessarily a "better" one in the sense that it is more pleasant. But a more likely one certainly. Based on what we know from the historical and ethnological study of religion, it is highly likely that religious practice is a form of masturbatory behavior (as I argued in another thread)...

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

Of course. Anything can happen. Humans never have access to 100% knowledge. So we assess likelyhoods as best we can and live by that. As I said earlier, the scenario you describe is possible but, to me it looks very, very, very, ......., very unlikely.

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

For the time being, you are jerking off by writing the above. I do also fap, of course, but in other ways. The fact is that I consider the scenario you describe to be extremely unlikely. And I am not alone.

    Jesus and Thought crime.

First, a disclaimer: I am not a Christian and, to be honest, "atheist" is probably the word which best describes my religious outlook. However, I believe that there is much more to this passage that what we usually read into it. First of all, why does it talk about lust and anger? It could have...

Is a meaningless universe enough of a reason to adopt a religion?

My take on this is that religion is a form of masturbation (understood in a very general sense) and that, yes, in order to cope with the apparent meaninglessness of human life, some form of masturbation is probably necessary. Some people do drugs (chemical masturbation) others have pets or do...

Is faith the backbone of Science?

Yes. And yet I am an Atheist. So what do I mean exactly? I do not mean faith in general but specifically the "salvation by Faith alone" of Luther, Calvin and their predecessors down to the apostle Paul and the rest of the New Testament. This is the secret of why the West became so powerful...
