I became ashamed of wearing the uniform

Actually, this has more to do with our international policay dating back to George Washington - we won't allow US citizens at any level to be held accountable by anyone but the US. This is the same reason that we won't sign completely binding treaties, as it endangers our absolute sovereignty.

Would you join any branch of the US military?

I would join the Air Force again. :) jacquie4000: Seabees kick butt. I work with one - she's got some great stories. That status is sketchy. They are generally treated as a seperate branch but the Navy handles many of their support roles, including medical, transportation, and admin. The...

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

Or the Muslim population, or the Jewish population, or the LDS population, or... We needn't single anyone out, I think most of the major groups discriminate equally when it comes to homosexuality.

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

Can the arguement then be made that we should integrate males and females as well? Soldier, Marine, Sailor, or Airman is a Soldier, Marine, Sailor, or Airman afterall.

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

Good point well taken. Honestly, though - can anybody? :) Firstly, to my knowledge, there has to be exidence - if you could site a source, I'm welcome to correction. Secondly, technically, you're always on duty, regardless of where you are or how you're dressed. Most branches have some...

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

You're right, it's not a crime. Which is why they don't do time at Ft. Levinworth after they are discharged. Again, I seek answers, solutions... we all know the problem. What do you suggest for the barracks and training issues that have been brought up?

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

Can the same logic apply to sexuality? Some would argue that we don't chose our faith any more than our sexuality. It's interesting to point out in all of this that the UCMJ isn't explicitly written out against homosexuals... Article 125: "It is unnatural carnal copulation for a person to...

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

Are you sure that that isn't because a greater volume of homosexuals are joining BECAUSE of Don't Ask, Don't Tell effectively allowing them to?

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

That's a good question and I 100% agree with you. BUT, I will not support such a change to the UCMJ without a system to deal with it. As I said, the devil's in the details. I personally think that the poll's results are questionable given how many are still voting actively anti-gay...

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

So you suggest two additional facilities for gays and lesbians? What about bisexuals? Where does the line get drawn? The only solution that I've ever figured out for this issue is unisex bathrooms, barracks, &c. That said, I wonder if the occurances of sexual assault would be like?

Poll: Gays should be allowed to serve openly in the Military

I think it's more a problem of logistics. The current "don't ask, don't tell" policy has been very effective at allowing homosexuals serve without repercussion - and logistical solutions. The devil is in the details. How do you house homosexuals? Will you place gay men in the female barracks...

    Top Myths About Bisexuals

My favorite myth regarding bisexuality is that there are only two possible states regarding sexuality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinsey_scale

The Radical Right has waged its war against public education

Each state has the ability to shape and determine the tests. If I was governer of state X and I felt this was true and desired to counter the problem, I would make the standard so low that a goat would pass.

    Culture vs. Islam

Outstanding work. I feel that it's often hard for Westerners to understand Islam properly because we are spoiled by the luxury of compartmentalization while in the Middle East Islam is embedded in everything and it's hard to examine for its' own virtues without the cultural baggage.

Do you think China has the right to develop....

We learned from that mistake December 7th, 1941. Does anybody seriously believe that if we relent in developing more effective weapons that it will stop others from doing so? What many of you suggest is a prodigal globe-spanning cultural shift that many have been trying to initiate since the...

"Aircore" pornography - Good, bad, or indifferent?

Chemical castration for preventing issues of recidivism could be understandable, but those who fall under the category of having urges but never having acted upon them, I feel it would set a dangerous precedent. It is certainly a possibility that the statistic (which Wiki lacks a citation for)...

    Eve and her husband.

Interesting metaphor - write a book! Please note, however, that posting the same copy/paste reply as an answer to many different questions doesn't necesarily consitute a good answer.

    Eve and her husband.

Gen 2:22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib [c] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man (in the garden). It is generally assumed in Gen 4 that as he is carrying on his life with Eve after his removal from the garden that she is removed as well but it's not...

    The name of the God

In my opinion, the Message is easy to read like a novel but lends itself to too much of the author's interpetations and biases and has more inaccuracies than King James. Nice for an overview, but a bad place to start for theological study. Then again, the same could be said for taking...

biblically speaking, where does life begin?

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=2&chapter=21&verse=22&version=31&context=verse Exodus 21:22 suggests that all that an unborn fetus is only valued as a potential economic unit of production, not as a human life as there is no violation of the "no killing" rule.
