Have Religions Outlived its Usefulness in The USA

Unfortunately that's not the case. Religion is so involved with the political process that the effect on government policy is glaring.

Have Religions Outlived its Usefulness in The USA

Of course personally. However do you think it should affect US government policy?

I see you just want to debate for the sake of debating. Okay I'll be your Huckleberry. I did not blame slavery, racism, sexism, and the tooth ferry on Christianity. I said these things were sactioned by religion, Big difference. I have nothing but respect for religion I just don't think it...

Have Religions Outlived its Usefulness in The USA

Religion being a hindrance to peace is so glaring in middle east politics that a blind man can see it. Also it's used as a smoke screen to hide what's going on there.

The Apostle Paul was the anti-christ according to the first Christians

OK OK I was pulling his leg. You don't have to get all condescending. I was told you are in fact a nice guy and someone that has a lot of knowledge on the subject. I will be listening for it. You really shouldn't come down on people the way you do. It's not a contest here. If it is you're a ringer.

The Apostle Paul was the anti-christ according to the first Christians

So if he's not dead, he didn't die for our Sins?:D

Doom Baby, lets end it right here, since only you know what this convo is about. My inner bigot, where are you getting this stuff?? I invite anyone to explain to me what's he's talking about. Also it was a rhetorical question if you keep it in context of the whole statement. You Sir are the only...

Have Religions Outlived its Usefulness in The USA

Totally disagree. This is a nation that only recognized white males as citizens until relatively recently. Blacks were enslaved and considered less than human. Women could not vote simply because of their gender. Interracial marriages were against the law in many states. Most of these actions...

The Apostle Paul was the anti-christ according to the first Christians

But what are you really saying if you are the biggest advocate of a dead Messiah. As in the wizard of Oz he was the man behind the curtain.

The Apostle Paul was the anti-christ according to the first Christians

r I took away that the title was purposely overstated to provoke discussion. No one character is more responsible for European Christianity than Paul. Christianity may of been about the Christ but Paul was the one who molded it into what it became. Paul is an interesting and complex...

Have Religions Outlived its Usefulness in The USA

Ok, I'm going to try again. What I meant by the diminishing returns comment was that at one time in this country religion was instrumental in establishing things such as our moral compass and homogeneity. Things that are necessary for a new nation. Now we have reached a point that our diversity...

Every other poster took those as Rhetorical questions except you. So is it me or was it you.

Have Religions Outlived its Usefulness in The USA

Oh my God. You're upset because I used a rhetorical question to drive home a point!!! Why???
  16. T

The Apostle Paul was the anti-christ according to the first Christians

I think it's the most purchased book. It being read is another matter.

The Apostle Paul was the anti-christ according to the first Christians

I personally put the scriptures in prospective. I realize when it was written and the circumstances it was written in. I don't accept all of it is the word of God or even it's efficacy has survived time and countless translations.

OK, that was meant to be a rhetorical question. It was meant to drive home the point of my thread.

    A Basic Religion

That was brilliant. I'm still not agreeing with the labels but, Wow, you got it all. I was just expressing those views to somene last week. I wish I could of said it the way you did, she would of thought I was brilliant.

I see the merit in religious studies not so much Theology. But studying these subjects will help you to understand man and his relation to religion. Not so much God though. I do beleive that obtaining Knowledge is key and as one of my early mentors told me "you can even learn from a monkey"...
