I think there are types of ignorance.
People with limited ability, I feel sorry for them.
People who have been indoctrinated, I have some sympathy but they should move on.
People who refuse to discover new thing, read, hear the other side - no sympathy for them.
In the UK, there has just been a bi-election in Rochdale, turnout was 39.7%
The assumption is that the rest couldn't be bothered or were voting "None of the above"
And how many candidates did the Libertarians get in Congress?
With the unfair electoral system in US (and UK) the lesser parties are not properly represented.
In the UK we have many parties. In my constituency there are normally ... Conservative, Labour, Lib Dem, Green, Reform (a new far right party) and possibly others.
In general terms Labour, Lib Dem, Green and left of centre parties. Conservative were at the last election the only right of centre...
My mum used to say similar when I was 12, have you listened to the new albums by ... Bodega, The Nightingales, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, there are many more. I still listen to old stuff but there is plenty of good new stuff out there
