It's such a hard thing to live with, and you have my prayers that your suffering at least reduces.
Not that it's comparable with what you have had to suffer, but I have suffered from General Tics Syndrome since I was 8 years old. It's exactly like Tourettes Syndrome but without any vocal...
Sounds a good position to me, Jainarayan. :)
Yes, I agree that your beliefs could certainly be considered as Buddhist Humanism. It's a wide descripter. In fact, my own beliefs could also perfectly be described as Buddhist Humanism. Nichiren is a very humanistic, socially orientated form of...
You're very right. And those people are diseased.
I was brought up as a protestant Christian (United Reformed Church) here in the UK and when I started to hear the message of hate from some 'conservative Christians', especially in the US, and the degree of hate and judgement they carry, I...
I hope your search for truth is going ok Saint Frankenstein and that your depression is lifting (which mine certainly is at last).
I have come to the conclusion that for me, established religions and other such labels are just attachments. And as someone else said above - you cannot find out...
He said earlier in the thread that he's tired of deities and wants a break from the necessity to seek love from and worshop deities......
so I don't think Hinduism fits too well at the moment.
@Saint Frankenstein,
Reading the last few posts, and where you are in your thoughts at the moment, and also thinking about what Crossfire was saying about 'deity/mechanism', why not read something like Eckhart Tolle? (The Power Of Now).
Yes, I know he has plenty of people on forums...
Thanks Brother. It is a heart-wrenching condition but I guess without the lows there'd be no highs, and maybe, just maybe, one day everything will be made clear.
All the best to you too, and I hope you feel better soon.
The mantra of the moment for me is (of course :)), "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo".
What could be better than a mantra that embodies what is all around us, interwoven through everything, every action, every thought; the law of cause and effect.
:)
Yes, it was unskillful. But hold on, I didn't say it wasn't "wrong" ;) .... Go back to my post - you'll see I talked of "Sin" not right and wrong. Of course it is wrong! Who is going to argue against that? ..... but it wasn't sinful because 'sin' doesn't exist. We all have free will...
That's a really weak rationale in my opinion....
Christianity can only "take away a person's sin" because it put's it there in the first place!
I don't behold any concept of 'sin', just skillful and unskillful actions, so I don't need Christianity to "take away sins" because I don't believe in...
Me too.
And I can see so much of my recent behaviour and thought patterns, in your posts here. (I don't mean that judgementally, I mean it empathetically). People have seen my posts here too, flitting from one belief system or practice to another.
It's just grasping for that inner peace...
I very much agree.
I am personally finding the Lotus Sutra to be a potential life time study. It is certainly becoming the 'core' of my own Nichiren practice. Chanting Gongyo and Daimoku becomes so much more substancial when you start to study the Sutra. :)
Still going fantastically thanks. Practicing twice per day. Look forward to it. Enjoy the practice, rather than it being a bind or a chore. :)
I am also going along to a local group, who practice Nichiren across my county soon. So will be good to practice my Gongyo and Daimoku with...
