Relate your experiences with the I Ching?

IMHO, using the I Ching on a contant basis will wear you out. Only consult the oracle when you are at wit's end. Then take the advice and think upon it. Meditate and enter into communion with the Dao. Become like Water! <><

    Taoism, A Potential 'New' Religion?

Look up "Western Taoism" on the net.. there is already a loosely held organization out there. No actually churches, or meditation centers yet. Many Taoists go to Buddhist or Zen type meditation centers. Is native Chinese Taoism any reflection of the teachings of Laozi? chokmah

Could some RC please explain this?

Then again, I don't think it is Augustine that has a problem with sex, just look at the OT gods: David's son raped his sister and overthrew his father, slept with his father's wives. He was killed when David took back his kingdom but not by David. David's sin was forgiven, but since he slept...

Could some RC please explain this?

Read Paul's Epistles, a very prudish dude and quite skittish about sex and the place of women. In the Catacombs of Rome there are frescoes that date back to the First Century with images of the Virgin with the Christ Child, this was a very powerful motif in the early Church. Many of these...

Was the Sexual Revolution a Good or Bad Thing?

I personally have benefitted from the sexual revolution and still do. I think sex is one of the most spiritual things we humans can do, along with procreation, when ready. Is America a better place? I don't know..:162:

    Competition

Play is a very important thing to humans, as well as to many animals... like dogs and cats. I think friendly competition is good for the soul, and is completely natural. Evolution ocurred because of natural selection, and how would natural selection work? Most likely by selecting the winner of...

    The Liberal Bubble

Darkdale, The pampered liberals in our society do live in a bubble, and they have come to resent the very people who have made them rich and famous. On the other hand, we need to be careful not to lump progressives in our culture with the 'limosine liberals' in our media, academia, and...

    The Liberal Bubble

The First Lesson of Economics: "That which you subsidize, you get more of; That which you tax, you get less of." If you subsidize poverty, you will get more poor people. If you tax productivity, you will get less productivity. There is an optimum amount of taxes that works best for any...

    Action through inaction

Simply put, we really don't 'try' to do anything. If hungry eat, if tired sleep, etc. Once we start to attempt to control things, to manipulate our reality, we then are drawn into conflict. Perfectionism is a vice that many 'religions' load onto the backs of their adherents. Wu wei would negate...

    Action through inaction

Ethically speaking, wu wei would encompass the natural progression of a course of action or inaction: "To every action, there is an equal and opposite 're-action' As we say in AA, "Be careful what you pray for".
