Thanks for the reply. I'll let him know what I learned(from you guys) and see what he can come up with.
Also, in my first post, I made a mistake. What I meant to say was that he does NOT pray to Mary. (I will EDIT it)
I was debating with a Catholic who kept telling me not to confuse him with the Roman Catholic Church. He says he does not pray to the Saints and he does not pray to Mary, and he also does not attend Mass on Sundays. However, he is Catholic. So as our debate goes on, he accuses me of not being...
I see.
So does that passage apply to Catholics today? Or do they have a misunderstanding of the verse? You said they are for the Jews and that Christians are not commanded to worship in temples anymore. But Catholics consider themselves Christians, right?
What do you guys think of the Catholic's belief that God said to make statues? They even cited a verse for it. What about the command of not making any carved images? Surely the Bible isn't contradicting itself. So the Catholics have to explain this now that they have used a verse to support...
According to Catholic.com, they said:
' People who oppose religious statuary forget about the many passages where the Lord commands the making of statues. For example: "And you shall make two cherubim of gold [i.e., two gold statues of angels]; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two...
I don't like when people tell you to define 'God' when you bring up a topic or question about Him.
You can define God however you like, but I tend to go with the definition the Bible provides.
Of course God could kill Himself. He's omnipotent. There is no limits to His powers. He's so powerful, He can kill Himself then bring Himself back to life again. Mwuhahahahaha!
Anyway, why would God want to kill Himself?
You see, that's exactly what I was saying. I think it was this thread or another one when I mentioned that Atheists blame God for not doing anything about the bad things in this world. Then someone said how can that be when Atheists don't believe God exists. Yet, here is Mr. Spinkles and Cerid...
In order to believe that, you have to believe that a spirit has all 7 of those what Mr. Spinkles posted. But God is spirit, and I really don't think a spirit have cells, DNA, etc. much less flesh and bones.
I see your point. If we use your example, I'd have to blame Satan for that. Satan loves to tempt people into doing bad things like robbing a bank or whatnot. The only way we can fight back is to control ourselves from doing it. We have the power to do that. Again, like I said in the other...
Well, if you were to do that, then the whole world would no longer be an "ultimate reality TV show" for you anymore. You'll still have to watch people "squirm" though. On the other hand, since no one is doing anything bad, you'll get bored eventually and you can always "whip yourself up with a...
Interesting how you brought that up.
True, those are not results from man misusing his free will. I actually have an article on this(too lazy to find it). And I don't think you would have appreciated the answer. You would probably deem it as too harsh.
Yes, it does sound like a plan. Sorry to say, but no I would not choose to end all suffering. Read on to see why...
Nope.
Just think about it, Cerid. If you really choose to end ALL suffering, now would probably be a bad time to do it. Well, seeing how the world is getting worse and worse...
