OK so who are you? To keep it cleaner to read:
- approx your age or accurate if you're ok with that
- any kids?
- married?
- you male or female?
- have you spent time leisurely or otherwise in the bible?
Are you going to be OK with talking about personal things (without giving address or things like that)? But the nature of this task requires me to get to know you.
Hi pudding, do you like to debate?
How about that the teachings in the bible are more helpful and relevant than anything else written in relation to understanding human nature and human relations.
That seems to be what I'm into these days as a topic of discussion.
Hi thanks for sharing.
I don't feel comfortable at church. So I study on my own or read different perspectives the help shape my understanding.
Basically my belief is Christianity. God the all powerful decided to create, and we are all expressions of his creation.
You spoke of suffering and I am...
mostly every moment I'm not distracted I'm wrestling with concepts, my beliefs, the world, but all centered around God.
I've never met anyone like me and often I feel alone. That the people in the bible are my friend. I relate to them much more than anyone else alive.
The bible seems to...
In essence it is the creation of a perfect being.
Only the being can actually be perfect.
Much like the painting is not the painter.
The problem is some have a difficult time hurdling the idea that a perfect God was at hand of a world that seems so bad sometimes.
Many a strawmen have been built...
I agree with your first point. You are correct.
As to your second point, you would be correct as well. That evil only exists because God exists.
The idea is if a single point, we will call A is the only thing in existence, and that point is perfect for arguments sake.
The moment A decides to...
Goodness in my reality is not separate from God. If I'm being totally honest with you.
I realize many will say "I'm good and I don't believe in God" etc...
That argument has holes though because it can be asked where their goodness truly originated from and go back in time and you'll...
This is exactly what I'm stating is the state of affairs.
What people haven't understood yet is this doesn't mean God isn't perfect.
So I would agree with your assessment based on my research and what my heart tells me.
The bible mentions enough times that our spirit *can live infinitely. That our body dies (our flesh).
If we are not saved, we don't in fact have an eternal soul, and if we die in that condition, our entirety goes to rest in the grave or wherever until judgement day.
For those that are saved...
So, it should go without saying, but I will say it anyhow. Topics and discussions such as these will often times open up smaller discussions for clarification to continue with the larger discussion.
The larger discussion is (from my position) God is perfect (and perfect is God), everything God...
Surely it is possible to sin for humans.
This is because we are measured against the goodness of God.
God is not measured against himself, he is the beacon or path to follow.
Much like, a dirt path can not walk down the dirt path, but rather people walk the path.
No, lust is a weekness or rather a physical reaction to external stimulus. The soul can either be influenced by this or not because we are embodied by flesh.
God is not embodied by flesh so is not susceptible to this.
Ah, I equate "good" with perfection.
Not the ordinary usage of the word good, but the word in its totality is quite humbling.
Perhaps we aren't to far apart as things stand.
Sorry out of town for few days so limited access.
All great points, which helps aim or refine the discussion to hopefully eliminate what perfection can not be.
I'll ask you to ponder on this for a bit. Often times perceived perfection is closer related to pride than anything meaningfully...
