Vinayaka:
I understand what you are pointing out... the Devil is indeed in the details ...
And how to respond ... there are so many ways....
First .... I think I'm going to go back to the link you provided me?????
So... on a personal level ... here is the temptation I am struggling with...
Vinayaka ....
I really have no desire to get into a discussion on the differences between our faiths ....I'm capable of it... as I've spent a good number of years involved in interfaith dialog.... but I've no desire for it, right now....
As I mentioned in my earlier post...
Bede Griffiths...
Yeah ... I'm well aware of how controversial he was....
During my years of involvement in interfaith dialog, I came across a lot of folks who were controversial because of their work. He is just one person, of many, who pushed the edges.
I can understand why those in Hindu circles might feel...
Vinayaka - thank you for the link. I think I've figured out what may be happening, and an approach that I can take to grow through this...
As I've mentioned earlier, this is confusing to me..... Simply experiencing something that is outside my own tradition is confusing. .There's no way to "get...
I understand what you mean. There is some of that sentiment within Christian Mysticism. For instance, the Gnostic Gospels (and other texts) are quite important to the mystic interpretation of Christ. But... all too often ... they are misused by people who don't want to take the time to develop a...
You give good advice Maya, you and Vinayaka...
The more I read through this thread, the more I realize maybe the key here is that I don't have to analyze. Maybe all I have to do is enjoy it....
I just want to be able to nurture it, so that it is long lasting. I guess that's why I started this...
Maya - I can sense that you are trying to help. Don't worry about it, I'm not taking it as confrontation. Like I mentioned earlier, communicating by writing can be somewhat limiting...
Yeah ... I know what you mean. Pressure being released with a drill was a complete shock to me. I absolutely...
Hello Vinayaka --- I can totally relate to that statement, but from a different cultural perspective. And to your description of the map vs. actually traveling the road. There are parallels within the Christian tradition. So ... what you are saying makes sense to me (on one level).
But... I'm...
Well ... in regards to the Third Eye Chakra, it started presenting itself during meditation. Just a tingling in the center of my forehead, above and between my eyes. But overtime this sensation started to happen just in my daily routines. I didn't have to be meditating. It seems to have a...
Hello Vinayaka:
OK - a couple of questions...
You write about fear as a Chakra and Muladara as Chaktra .... what is the difference?
If Muladara is the 1st Chaktra (or "root" Chaktra) then how can there be a Chakra BELOW Muladara?
This question may take some exploration between us, but I'll...
Vinayaka .... It was not my intent to come across as "debating", and I'm sorry if that's the way it was perceived. Sometimes communication in writing can be a bit misleading, because one can not hear the inflections of the others voice.
Thank you for requesting that the thread be moved to...
I don't intend to stop meditation because of the tingling. It is quite normal, on the meditative path, to have new understandings and concepts present themselves along your path. .. This isn't just one Chakra anymore. Another has recently presented itself. And I assume the tingling in my hands...
Hello Folks:
I'm not sure where to start with this, so I'll just plunge right in. I've decades of experience meditating. My path has been Christian Mysticism.
Although I've heard of Chakras I've never really given them much thought. They've not been "on my path" so-to-speak.
But, in the last...
This may not be right on topic with the OP, but it is a comparison between the verses relating to Logos and a poem from the Tibetan tradition.
I put it together some years ago, when I was leading an interfaith meditative group.
The color coding basically shows the parallels.....
Exactly - getting familiar with a meditative practices is important. It's important to get to the point where meditation is a part of your life.... not some great big "mystic mystery"....
I think - a lot of times - folks in the mystic traditions sort of put the whole practice on some...
In addition to different types of meditation, experience plays a roll as well. Meditation (as a discipline) is like any other discipline. The longer you practice the discipline, the better you get, and the more you will have different types of experiences within the discipline...
Well... I would agree with what Windwalker wrote
But, I would add one more reason for fear. Earlier when I talked about a kind of fear that had a sense of impending danger, this is a different type of fear (to me at least) than what Windwalker refers to. In this situation, I think the danger...
Fear in meditation ...
Well, for me anyway, there are a couple areas where I've encountered fear in relationship to my meditative practices. The most intense fear was during a months long Dark Night of the Soul experience. The Dark Night included a lot of negative feelings, but fear was pretty...
