Are we living in the "end times".(Christian)

Are you suggesting that people dying is not a bad thing? I am assuming that any adult considers genocide to be bad.

Are we living in the "end times".(Christian)

Which - nothing will change or everything subtly changing? By praying for The End people are accepting that we cannot be better, they're giving up. This is an evil viewpoint. It is weak and it is lazy. It is a child crying for its parent, not a responsible adult response.

Are we living in the "end times".(Christian)

Seriously? Explain why genocide is bad?? Ok. By encouraging actions that take our species towards annihilation. People dying, hatred. By accepting this as our destiny, rather than working to bring about peace and love. It is good that those we love live in peace.

    If Jesus was a sacrifice...

Thank you. So, the sin was forgiven but the punishment not lifted?

    If Jesus was a sacrifice...

He died for our sins - that is the common Christian belief that I'm asking about.

    If Jesus was a sacrifice...

If man is free of sin then Jesus didn't need to die. Isn't that the point?

    If Jesus was a sacrifice...

Being the omnipotent and omniscient creator it was Yahweh that determined what the consequence would be. So a distinction between 'cause' and 'permit' does not apply here. The cost of the sin was painful childbirth. Jesus did nothing to remove this tangible aspect.

Are we living in the "end times".(Christian)

Time. If we accept that time only exists alongside the existence of substance/mass, then it follows that 1 we can never detect anything before that point (detection requires the passage of time) and, 2 nothing (including god) existed before that point (as existence also requires the passage of...

Are we living in the "end times".(Christian)

The belief in End Times, and heavenly rewards, is IMO the biggest threat to peace on earth. People are willing the world to end! Seriously, you think god wants that? If you want a better world then make the world a better place. Praying that it will all just go away is irresponsible and hateful...

    Proof of God

You claim denial is unlawful and therefore proves a god. I'm interested in how you make the connection without reference to bible verses (which already assume it). Can you succinctly show your thinking?

    If Jesus was a sacrifice...

Since The Fall in the Garden of Eden all men were born with sin, and women would suffer the pains of childbirth as penance. Jesus died to lift that curse; for mankind to be born free of sin. However as women still suffer the pain of childbirth it shows that Yahweh's curse was not broken, and...

All Terrorists are Muslims...Except the 94% that Aren’t!

The data is skewed by actions in the 1980s. When people talk about modern terrorism they are not looking that far back. Modern major acts and threats of terrorism, certainly in the UK, is mainly Islamic.

    Did God create evil?

Excellent question. IMO life without God/Heaven is far more meaningful. The 'life without X is meaningless' line is just brainwashing.

    Did God create evil?

Sorry, this addresses the question how?? Any time you want to answer in plain English you just go for it! So let's try again. Good and bad are largely subjective. On what basis do you claim there is absolute good, without its opposite, and what would absolute good actually look like?

Atheists and Agnostics - you're missing all the fun!!

It seems to me the fun of religion is the happy-clappy-sunbeam-for-jesus kind that comes with a self-centred belief of being saved because you're somehow special. This ignores the misery of guilt, sin, of having to be broken to earn god's love. Personally, living without the fear of Hell...

    Did God create evil?

That is a whole bunch of assumptions in one sentence. First, God most likely does not exist. Even if he does, there is no reason to assume he is absolute good. Even if he were, why assume there is not "an opposite called Evil"? You rightly say that Good and evil are relative, subjective, as...

Atheists and Agnostics - you're missing all the fun!!

Re OP. Life seems much more fun now I don't feel like God is always judging me. Everything else remains the same. And the wonder of what we are learning about the world/universe through science is awe-inspiring. A drunk has fun, but I wouldn't recommend being a devout alcoholic.

    Did God create evil?

No, sorry, you've chanegd the arguments. Even if God made himself man, he would not be unaware of his existence. If he observed the life of this man and felt was this man ws feeling he would still be experiencing that as a deity, aware of his own exostence. You say god sets a path before us but...

    Did God create evil?

Nice post Vouthon. But I think some of it isn't sound. You are right - darkness is an absence of visible light. Light is simply a range of radiation waves that our eyes have developed to be able to see. There is a whole spectrum that our eyes do not see. But some creatures can see 'colours'...

    Did God create evil?

    1) If it doesn't make sense then it doesn't matter what He is 2) Firstly, you seem to know a lot about God that was not revealed in the Bible. Anyway, he cannot know what it feels like to personally experience being outside God 3) I didn't say "understand those who" I asked if he knows, that is...
