I didn't say they were. I was suggesting that the Christian tradition made up a very large majority at the time, as such, it could have been reflected there. Maybe not. Just a thought.
I am curious of your take on some of the... edgier Christian scriptures. That is, ones that seem to show God in a vengeful/angry way. I have a rough time seeing those stories as inspirational concepts. :shrug:
I wouldn't categorize myself as an atheist, however, my reservation isn't about God, per se. It is more about the congregations and groups of people that acknowledge themselves to represent God.
I agree. While I believe the punishment did not fit the crime, I do believe it is a good opportunity to have a discussion about firearms and why it is inappropriate to do what he did.
The question I am asking myself is: are we in the financial position to loan money with no guarantee of getting it back? Perhaps in the grand scheme of things it isn't much, but it certainly seems short sighted.
I think this is a very important perspective that doesn't get enough attention. In my opinion, while stricter gun regulations will not eliminate the problem, I cannot see how it could hurt. Of course, those opposed will harp on the inefficiencies all day long, however, we will never hear about...
