    I'm loathe to admit this...

Thank you friend, your 2 cents are very valuable to me. Its going to take me some time to completely apprehend what you say. I haven't reached your level of understanding yet. It appeared to me while reading your post that Bhakti is also a karma, acquiring knowledge(Gyan) is also a karma...

    I'm loathe to admit this...

Yes that's true. But when we talk of being free from karma, Krishna expects us to renounce the fruits of karma(action) and not to shun karma(action). This is my understanding. Am i right? But traditional Bhakti yoga practitioners totally shun action. That is something i am averse to. As 'I' see...

So you are pointing out the difference now i get it. I agree.

    I'm loathe to admit this...

Yes from the Bhagvad Gita, i remember them. I agree to all three, its logical thinking. But i didn't understand what you are trying to say. Krishna worshiped God or he did not? I am saying, yes he worshiped God. Kriyas like the Sandhya ritual involves worshiping some dieties.

    I'm loathe to admit this...

Forgive me but I think Krishna used to do the daily Sandhya routine. He would even touch the feet of his elders, acharyas, rishis and seek blessings.

Relax. I am not chasing it anymore. That wasn't the purpose. Just wanted to get the logic through correctly. Glad to know you don't consider Jesus an avatar or may be you are tentative.

It wasn't the punctuation mark that i missed. What was missing was the statement underlined and highlighted above. :D

What Makes a Hindu a Hindu?

Me too. In the bhajans and aartis we find the word 'Pitambar' being used. Sri Krishna wore pitambar, but it doesn't say silk pitambar or cotton pitambar. Or does the word Pitambar itself signify yellow silk clothing?

    I'm loathe to admit this...

I read your original post a few times. This is your quote, "but I'm again coming to see Jesus as a representative of God. Perhaps not a full avatar, though why not, when so many acharyas and rishis are claimed/claim to be avatars? But at least as a prophet, one who speaks for God." Now, unless i...

    I'm loathe to admit this...

If this is what Jesus said then i think his teaching is not compatible with Krishna's teachings. Krishna never asked to love enemies nor does he ask to pray for those who hate you. Infact he asked Arjun to kill his own relatives most of whom were dearer to Arjuna and Krishna too. Krishna does...

What Makes a Hindu a Hindu?

How about asking questions like. Do you observe Brahmacharya? Do you wear a Tilak? Do you take care of your parents? Don't you consider these part of a Hindu way of life.

    Honor Killings

Its bit of difficult for me to explain but you can't get an idea unless you live in a Hindu joint family. Anyways whatever the case, killing any person with selfish motives is never justifiable.

What Makes a Hindu a Hindu?

If I ask my parents about my baptism they would be like :areyoucra. About Namakarana Samskara, yes it was done. I had a silver chain around my waist for quite a few years. I pestered my mom that i need a golden chain until they took it away and i had none.:D Had my ears pierced too and wore a...

What Makes a Hindu a Hindu?

Yes i do a daily puja. Yes i do attend a temple(daily). Its right next to my house. Yes i have a sanskrit name if that is what you mean by Hindu name. What is baptism? Probably a christian ritual i think. Don't understand what you mean by formal entrance. Is this question meant for new comers to...

    Honor Killings

Dowry deaths or bride burning probably do not fall under the category of honor killing. No matter what the reason killing can never be justified. What is called as bride burning is rare in India(Yes it happens:o ) and i am glad the Indian society looks down upon those perpetrating these crimes.
