Jesus said "a house divided can not stand." He also said that He is "the same yesterday, today and forever."
God's Church must be following in Christ's footsteps, so His Church will be doing the same things He did, starting with keeping God's Laws including observing His Sabbaths and Festivals.
I think "It also forced all people" would be better rendered "he directed all people".

Religons are not to be reformed they are to reform.
People either change because they believe or understand a religon to be true.
If they don't agree, they move on. A religon does not change to be like the people.
That's not what they are for, but rather the other way around.
You must be a person of extrodinary faith because with all the proof that the God of the BIble is God it would take superhuman faith to believe otherwise.
