    Not quite new, but...

Hello Religiousforums! I'm Bob Dixon. As you can see. I'm not exactly new; I was an active member years ago, but I eventually stopped posting. I don't know why, but I suppose that's how things go sometimes. Recent events have drawn me back to the forums that once felt like home. You really...

    The Deer Hunter?

Hi, I have a question regarding Shiva/Rudra. I seem to think that, once, I read something that talked about either Shiva or Rudra being referred to as "the deer hunter". Is Shiva/Rudra really given this name, or am I merely confused? Is there any deity who is given that name? Sorry, it was a...

    Buddhism and Psychology?

So I've read about Buddhism, somehow, being associated with psychology. How accurate is this? Are there Buddhist texts that discuss psychology in a scientific way? Thanks.

If The Temple Mount Were Freed Up

... what would happen? Like, if the Temple Mount's land was given up to the Jews (with the possibility of building a new Temple), what would be done? Would a new Temple be built?

Hindus and others: Authorship of the Vedas

Christians, Atheists, and Muslims love debates! But I'm sure all the SDs here would enjoy a nice one, too. So, the topic of discussion here is the authorship of the Vedas. Who exactly wrote them? Are they, as some claim, not written by humans? Or were they purely man-made? Or something else...

    Panentheism?

I've read the Pantheism isn't acceptable in Islam, but what about Panentheism? Sikhs embrace it and I think some Sufis might, too... Do any mainstream Muslims have a panentheistic view of God?

    Material World = Evil?

Do all Gnostics believe that the entirety of material existence is evil and that God is not the creator of the world? Or are there sects who think that God is, indeed, the creator and suffering comes from somewhere else? What's, like, the spectrum of beliefs here? Is it necessary, in...

    Rig Veda General

Let's have a thread discussing the Rig Veda! I just started reading a translation of it again, after a lengthy break. I find it quite good, really, but pretty difficult as well. My favourite hymns within it are the ones to Agni; they're always so good! Whenever I see that "Hymn to Agni" bit, I...

    Muhammad, Seal of the Prophets

So, I've read that, in Islam, Muhammad is seen as the Greatest Prophet, the Seal of the Prophets, and the Last Prophet Ever, whose message is for all mankind, for all time. I've also read the Qur'an and found pretty much no support of this view within it. Why is it so against Islam to think...

    Monotheism

Is Buddhism compatible with Monotheism/Monism/Deism/Pantheism? Typically, Buddhism seems atheistic, or perhaps polytheistic, but I see no schools that teach a concept of "one God", whatever this "one God" may be. Even the Hindu concept of Brahman seems un-Buddhist. What do you guys think?

    Kosher Pickles

Alright, this is going to sound really dumb, but... How can one pickle be any more kosher than another? I thought that kosher/non-kosher was reserved to animals! Also, kosher salt. What's the deal with that? It's not even a living thing!

    Rig Veda for Kindle

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but... I'm interested in all religions, so I want to read many religious texts. I've been told that the Rig Veda is the go-to entry-level text for Hinduism because it's the oldest. So, I've been looking for a free copy of it for Kindle... with...

    Umm... sup?

Good morning. I'm Bob Dixon. I'm new here. And... ... I hope we can understand each other. Some things about me (in the context of this forum, of course): I'm Christian (and slightly Sufi, haha). I seek God, both through my own religion and through others. I'm not quick to reject something...
