    The Strange Thing about Creationism

And there is no evidence for creationism of any sort. Except in the case of biological entities, in which case we have discovered, tested, and verified the idea that variance within population genetics when interacting with various outside factors can lead to overall changes in allele...

It's the "A" not the "ism"

Just like we behave as if unicorns don't exist. We have yet to be confused of the existence of deities, so why must we behave as if one exists? In fact, I'd posit that, aside from the ritual practices, atheists and theists behave in more or less the same way. A Christian and an atheist, on...

It's the "A" not the "ism"

Depends on the person. The few closest friends in my life vary from devout theists to fellow atheists.

    The Strange Thing about Creationism

    Why is that necessary?

It's the "A" not the "ism"

Before I begin, I'd like to say this is my very first thread on here, so...here goes. Atheism. People seem to forget what it means. It isn't "Athe-ism" it's "A-theism". It is a term that is used only in reference to the theistic position that a deity of some sort exists. Atheism itself is not...

If Muhammad wasn't an actual prophet, then where did the Qur'an come from?

I'm sorry, but no it really doesn't. The content itself is incredibly horrendous, contains insane amounts of contradictions (acknowledged by schools of Islamic theology for centuries with many attempts to apologize for such problems) and it contains outright falsehoods. It says that the Earth is...

    Atheists: why the Christians?

In fact, some forms of Buddhism are atheistic. They may contain supernatural elements, but they do not contain any notion of a god or gods.

    US Constitution and the Bible

Sure, why not. Article 1: Section 1: All legislative power is given to men instead of God Section 2 is sort of irrelevant to Biblical principles, as it is mostly organizational. Same with Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Section 8 grants powers to Congress that shouldn't be given to them...

    Atheists: why the Christians?

As each individual has their own reasoning, I'll give my answer to the question as an atheist. The primary reason is because I live in a Christianity dominated society and interact primarily with Christians in my life. I know few Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, etc. A secondary reason...

If Muhammad wasn't an actual prophet, then where did the Qur'an come from?

My point is quite clear and quite relevant. 1: Illiterate people can dictate things even if they can't read or write. 2: The Qur'an isn't that great of a book in the first place, so it's creation over a lifetime by an illiterate individual isn't something that would point to divine inspiration.

If Muhammad wasn't an actual prophet, then where did the Qur'an come from?

...I'm not being insulting. The closest I got to an insult is 'some guy in the desert' which, regardless of your opinions on Muhammad, is a description that fits him. Or maybe 'it's not even that great of a book' is insulting? I'm not trying to be insulting, I'm being frank.

If Muhammad wasn't an actual prophet, then where did the Qur'an come from?

This is my first actual post on this forum, so pardon me for being very...straightforward. Well, unlettered doesn't mean linguistically vacant. Muhammad knew a language and dictated the Qur'an, which is pretty easy to come up with when you spend all of two seconds thinking about it. It's...

    Hi, I'm an atheist!

Why am I here? Well, because I might be wrong! Who knows? I'm always for having another individual question my beliefs or lack thereof, so long as they extend to me the same courtesy I extend them. I've discussed religious issues on the internet before, but it's always been on sites that...
