    Jesus:Real or myth?

I had no idea. What sort of rides does it have? (I can't help imagining kids being scourged as they drag a cross through the Via Dolorosa.)

Why Debate the Existence of God with Non-believers?

So you believe in some JudgeGod who can tell us whether I am truly a conservative or truly a liberal? I ask you again: If I say I'm a liberal and you say I'm a conservative, what am I? Sure. And to help the Nazis separate Jew from gentile. I happen to be a coolguy. But sometimes evil...

    Jesus:Real or myth?

But Mickey Mouse has his own theme park. Anyway, zombies and vampires get a bunch of mileage, too. I don't think that's evidence that they are more real than myth.

Why Debate the Existence of God with Non-believers?

We each see things as we see them, but I think that's a confused conception. Here's a question which I'd very much like to hear you answer. It's a tough one: If I say that I am a liberal, and you say that I'm a conservative... which am I? Nah. I don't believe in labels. A word can't...

Why Debate the Existence of God with Non-believers?

I am both a theist and an atheist -- and neither -- at the same time. Try it with other terms: I am both a conservative and a liberal -- and neither -- at the same time. I am both a handsomeguy and a non-handsomeguy -- and neither -- at the same time. They're just words, just labels...

Is the "crcifixion" just a metaphor?

Because they didn't know anything about a contemporary, crucified man named Jesus.

    Jesus:Real or myth?

I don't understand. You're agreeing with me that no one has made the claim about 'there could be no germ for the Jesus character'? Would you mind just speaking clearly about whatever you believe? I'm glad that Bart Ehrman makes you happy, I guess. I've never read him myself.

Is the "crcifixion" just a metaphor?

I'm curious: Why do you take Ehrman's word for that? Why not take the opinion of an historian who states that Pilate would not have bothered with a nobody like Jesus?

Is the "crcifixion" just a metaphor?

    So were all the gospels.

    Gifted "spin doctors" in religion?

They're just like politicians. Do they duck direct questions, or do they happily answer any question asked of them? I think that's how you tell an honest person from a political person.

Is the "crcifixion" just a metaphor?

What references? I mean, there are thousands of references to the crucifixion of Jesus every Sunday morning in the US, but I don't find modern preachers to add anything to the historical issue. What credible references for the crucifixion do you know about?

Joseph Smith - Prophet of God

Third-party insults don't seem like the way to truth or facts.

Is the "crcifixion" just a metaphor?

I'm not going to engage those who can't resist personal insult.

    Jesus:Real or myth?

Not the average Christian or even the average westerner, that's for sure.

The Christian Missionary and the Inuit Man

OK, but I think that is the cause of your misunderstanding of my position here. I wasn't talking about 'standard Christian theology' when I spoke about a particular hell-belief. I don't even believe in standard Christian theology. I was only talking about 'people who call themselves Christians...

Is the "crcifixion" just a metaphor?

Christian historians. But not Muslim historians, so it seems. I wonder what Chinese historians think of it.

The Christian Missionary and the Inuit Man

I understand what you're saying. I guess it's just not an interest of mine -- the effort to identify or describe 'standard Christian theology.'

    Jesus:Real or myth?

OK. Forgive me if I don't take your word for it. I've heard people around here slime "mythers" (whatever those are) up one side and down the other. So I'm going to withhold my belief in the quote which you claim they've made.

    Jesus:Real or myth?

I'm sorry but I just don't believe you. Could you possibly be misremembering?

    Jesus:Real or myth?

I don't know who those guys are but if you can find a quote in which they claim that nobody could have existed who was the germ of the Christ legend, I'll most happily call them nincompoops here in public.
