    Gnosticism and Taoism

Socrates says to his horse "Gnothi seautron!", that is, "know thyself!" i guess this "gnothi" has the same root with "gnosis". With this he might have pointed to the significance of knowing one's self (i.e. being aware of one's own self first). Not very much related with the thread, i know...

Can Modern Islam Win Over the Islamic Fanatics?

Hi friends, I think my last post and your talk about theocratic gov'ts are a little irrelevant. (i.e. Turkey being a democratic country) And many muslims condemn terrorist attacks, and people doing them (claimingly muslims). And is there a "Muslim World" today? I highly doubt that.

Burqa Ban - Yes or No (religious clothing, jewlery, etc.)

I agree with you about it Midnight Blue. The Burqa is more a traditional dressing than to be something told in the Quran. It is an obstacle in identifying the person, and its not the same thing as the headcover (hijab). I think we should also note that people hardly know what that is in Turkey...

    Buddhist Creation

Hi Gnostic, I think there are indirect references to Creation and God, in the poems of Lao Tzu. For ex. one of them talks about the "Mystery of mysteries", smth like this, this is thought to refer to the highest supernatural Being, i.e. God. I dont have the text at hand now, but you can check...

Can Modern Islam Win Over the Islamic Fanatics?

Hi Jayhawker and Sunstone; There are many organisations and volunteer movements in the world working for world peace and establishing bridges between religions and cultures, seminars and conferences are being held, schools and cultural centers are being opened. I think you would find certain...

hey all, I'm so sorry, its been a long time since i could check this out, while i was away with the uni. exams and papers... My answer to your question Sunstone would be...They reconcile themselves. This is a complex issue, becos it also concerns how you view science to be. But what i can...

What would it take to make you a terrorist/ freedom fighter?

One life lost is like all mankind; that's what Islam teaches us, and its sad actually that the weak voice of the claimingly "muslim" terrorists are stronger in the media (see Time magazine last issue) than the mainstream that denounce terrorism. Hopefully this changes with the dialogue efforts...

    Errors in Bible translations...

Hi peeps; howdy all after a long time. My point would be, I read in a book about the mistake made about the phrase "Son of God", (Uios Theou in greek) while translating it from Hebrew into Greek. As i've read, the Greeks had only one word for "son", while in hebrew (and also in arabic) there...

Hi Glasgow; The holy gospel is the holy book for Muslims too. All books inspired by God are holy and to be revered by believers. I have a bible lying next to my monitor on the table here, for ex. I read it and take notes.

Poll: Who Believes in the Trinity?

Hi Katzpur; This makes all sense. He said thus because the best way to reach the Truth is through God's own messenger , thus His most beloved prophets, like Jesus. And wording "just a prophet"...To make things clear, I can say when i say prophet, i specifically mean God's messenger on earth...

The Nature of God the Father - One on One Debate

Hi Katzpur; I'm confused a little bit now. Don't you believe in the Trinity? I mean in the LDS sense?

    The Trinity in Islam

Hi Montalban; The problem here is that , the Quran only mentions the word "three" >> this is all you can find on Trinity in the quran:) and mixing the opinions of commentators with what the quran says confuses people. The commentators has no effect to what the quran states on the topic. You...

Poll: Who Believes in the Trinity?

Hi everyone, Katzpur, AV1611, Maize and others; Been reading all the posts, and i'm quite educated about the LDS belief in God and what more:) I chose the third one, and I think like Maize, the Unitarian belief in Jesus Christ as a teacher makes enough sense. What's more, he was a prophet, and...
