    Why versus how

Why God created us is something God continually ponders, but really isn't a question that would help mankind if answered. Science is a study of how God created us, and has and will contribute immensly to the greater good of man. We live longer and better because of it.

Synthetic life form accuses God of ‘playing science’

Because it's them or else and every time we seem to get a hold on them, God uses genetics to make them more virilent. It's about time someone put an end to it. Bless Dr. Venter and whatever artificially created life form he has created to do his bidding!

    Oppression of progress

Any attempts to halt man' progress has had little or no affect on Society, and in many cases has done the opposite. God did not rest on the seventh day but is working still - using genetics to improve what he has done. Science is merely a tool to better understand how he created us.

    Evolution Vs. Creationism

I think you care deeply, or you would not be on this site.

    Evolution Vs. Creationism

Science is a tool to better understand the wonders of the universe, and to a small degree, the tools god uses to create it. Evolution is creation in motion. God is not resting.

What's given more to the world-science or religion?

Religion forced our forefathers to relocate. Without conflict, there is no change.

    DRD4 (liberal) gene

In some past societies a person without this gene would not be a contributing member of that society and he and his offspring that didn't meet societies needs would be banned. And in a society such as ours, the opposite is true. This, I think, may be how all individuals in a species become more...

    DRD4 (liberal) gene

The advantage might be in a society that is based on the concept that the good of the many is the primary meaning to life. I'm biased, but I associate liberalism with empathy, and I think empathy is certainly a needed trait in some societies (not this one).

What's given more to the world-science or religion?

Religion forced our founding fathers to immigrate. Isn't that inspiration?

    DRD4 (liberal) gene

James H. Fowler, Professor U o C as quoted by fox news 10/28, suggests that it made more sense to be liberal in certain environments and at specific points in human history, thus those traits exibited by the gene are a part of natural selection. If this is true than morals might just be a...

What's given more to the world-science or religion?

Religion forced our founding fathers to get off their rears and move to America. That counts, doesn't it?

    Evolution Vs. Creationism

There is no conflict. Evolution is one the tools god uses to make us as we are.

What's given more to the world-science or religion?

Do you mean theism? If you mean "revealed religions" I believe they contribute nothing to society except, possibly, a more ordered and constructive workforce. Spirtuality, I think, may well be a genetec trait, bred by natural selection to allow us to better exist in society. Genetics, as with...

    Evolution Vs. Creationism

I think the newly discovered DRD4 (liberal) gene indicates that not only physically, but on a spiritual plane, we are products of natural selection. Societies require morals, and natural selection allows this to happen.

    DRD4 (liberal) gene

I would like to hear opinions on how this newly discovered gene might answer the question "can there be morals without God".

    Classical Deism vs Modern Deism

Classical deists seem much less tolorant than modern deists.

    Everyone lives like a Theist

There is a newly discovered gene that influences our belief in how others should be treated which indicates to me that morals may be no more than a trait such as we breed into our domesticated animals. Since morals are a necessary trait for the survival of a species, natural selection is...

    Everyone lives like a Theist

I agree. What do you believe?

    Everyone lives like a Theist

I know so many Theists that don't live their lives like Theists. I am a Deist and I have a very structured set of morals. I don't always follow them, but I feel inwardly quilty when I deviate. Is this God? I recently heard that Science has isolated a gene that influences ones feelings...

    Overview of Substantive Monism

Sounds right to me. What do Monists make of those unexplained things that seem to keep us on some predetermined path?
