The End of Don't Ask, Don't Tell- Your Thoughts?

I could careless frankly if a military person feels upset by knowing one of his mates is gay. If that's the case he should never join the military to begin with, and if he's that self-conscious of the male body maybe he has some unresolved issues to begin with.

    The Crucifixion of Jesus

Well Alex let me offer something from the Gnostic perspective about the death of Jesus. Jesus did not die to atone for our sins necessarily, he died to set his own people free from the curse of the law. Gnosticism mantains that God needed to do this to free the Jews from the curse of the law...

difference of reincarnation in bouddhisme and hindouisme

Not sure why you spelled it like that instead of as Hinduism and Buddhism. Anyhow, I cannot answer for Hinduism, but I can try to offer some perspective on Buddhism. Buddhism has no clearcut dogmatic view about what reincarnation is. Traditionally for centuries there has been an idea that people...

    Is Allah love?

Like I guess what I'm asking is this- Should a person help others and love others because they want to, as opposed to they feel obligated because of Allah?

So in the Old Testament God did not necessarily condemn the nations for their religions?

I guess I'm asking this because of something Levite said earlier in another thread. I guess this would be a good place to start trying to learn about Judaism some. Levite said that in Jewish view God did not necessarily order Israel to fight the Pagan nations because he hated them for their...

Is textual criticism in the case of holy books sinful?

Like I've met many who say one should not question the Bible or Quran, simply because they appear to say something in black and white text. Is this really a good way to approach the Bible? If the Bible is supposed to be a book of truth, isn't textual criticism important? It offers new...

    Is Allah love?

I guess I am kind of curious about something else, since Evangelist brings it up? Does Islam mantain that one can be justified in the sight of God by following rules and commandments alone? Because one can follow rules and commandments and still not have any sincere belief. I am not saying...

Atheist Dharma The buddha vs Buddhist

I greatly admire Taoism as well.

Atheist Dharma The buddha vs Buddhist

Oh yeah as to belief in karma, reincarnation, afterlife, deities, etc. Yes, it is true Buddhists traditionally believe in these things, but Buddha did not make theism or non-theism an issue. Some of these beliefs are the result of Buddhism assimilating into itself a culture to which it spread...

Atheist Dharma The buddha vs Buddhist

Greetings friend, Understand something about the Buddha's dharma and Buddhism first. There are Buddhists who are atheists and Buddhists who are theists. The Buddha did not wish to keep anyone away from his teachings over belief differences. The Buddha was kind and compassionate and offered a...

My apologies to the Jews of RF

I wanted to say that I apologize I suppose for not being more open to your beliefs, and how you guys view your scriptures. I just don't know a lot about Judaism and in Gnosticism the religion isn't viewed highly. I apologize for not being willing to listen. Don't be surprised if I come to this...

Anyone else here practice Christianity with another path?

One of the things I like about Buddhism, being a Buddhist myself as well, meaning I strive to follow the teachings of Buddha. Buddha didn't make it an issue rather one believes in certain things or not. Buddha pretty much welcomed all who wished to come. His teachings aren't about beliefs, but...

    Is Allah love?

If Allah is loving, is it true he would send some to hell forever? Would Allah do that?

Anyone else here practice Christianity with another path?

Well even if a person were to discard the things about Jesus they didn't agree with and only view him as a great moral teacher, we're in no position to judge them for it. I as a Gnostic, of course, mantain that Jesus was God.

    Is Allah love?

Okay if this is true, that Allah is love, does Allah hate people who are certain ways? Like does Allah hate Pagans, Atheists, homosexuals, etc.? Does Allah hate certain people?

    The Anti-Semitic Card

I mean the parts of the Old Testament that say God ordered the Israelites to kill people of the Pagan nations around them. Do Jews believe that's true? Is it because in your view God hates Pagans?

    Is Allah love?

I guess I need to be more open-minded about Islam, so I've come here to ask this question. Is Allah a loving god? Does Allah love people?

We need a return to biblical morality

Auto what one needs to understand though is that Gnostic and Orthodox Christianity are forever intertwined. Nothing can seperate the two. In the early church there were both Orthodox and Gnostic bishops because early Christian belief wasn't clearcut. Marcion the Gnostic was the first to collect...
