    I might! You don't know my life!!111 ^_^

    The Arrow of Time

I agree, but it is important to remember that the second law of thermodynamics is a statistical law and not an absolute.

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

Personally I believe the main challenge to acceptance of reallocation of resources. Certain studies indicate that we currently produce more than enough food to sustain everyone on earth without much of a problem, but we choose to burn excess corn rather than giving it away as that might hurt...

    The Arrow of Time

An analogy that I read once compared it to dropping a cup on the floor so that it breaks (entrophy). In theory it is possible that by dropping the pieces of the cup on the floor again, one might get a whole cup (order) again, but that that outcome is so statistically unlikely as to be almost...

    The Arrow of Time

So, I'm essentially correct, but it's more complicated than I stated it?

    The Arrow of Time

As far as my (informal) readings on physics and quantum physics has led me to believe, this is my understanding of the arrow of time: The arrow of time is the statistical result of physical and quantum physical fluctuations. Which is why it is moving towards entrophy. It is simply the more...

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

Being a bit of a misantrophe myself, I see our own selfish natures as our greatest enemy. Our limited scope beyond our own little sphere of people, and our tendency to base our happiness on having more than those around us. Not to mention the evolutionary pressure to appear to be right rather...

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

It is an interesting idea, although I worry that the ones receiving the support of a patron would end up feeling like they 'owe' something to the patron. Also, what are we to do if there aren't enough patrons to go around? Personally I think we should get rid of the monetary system altogether...

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

Given that quite a lot of crime stems from economic and monetary motifs, a basic universal income should alleviate some of that crime as well, further lessening the cost of having it. And, of course, I agree with your argument.

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

Actually, we have no choice in the matter. Advancing technology is the only way our species will survive. Not necessarily next week, next decade, or even next century. But eventually there will be another extinction event (of which there have been many), and unless we are ready for it, we...

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

Again, doesn't sound too damning to me. ^_^

Without knowing exactly what their proposal was, none of that sounds too damning on the surface of it.

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

I consider most of the Nordic countries to have fairly functional democracies, but I would, for instance, not consider the US to be one. Hope that illustrates where I'm coming from. :)

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

I think I can deduce already what that is from the name alone. :)

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

But...The state is there to support and caretake the citizens. I mean, in a working democracy, the citizens ARE the state.

    Universal Basic Income: Thoughts?

With the rise of automation and robotics, and an increasing gap in income equality, UBI is being considered and even tested (small scale) in several countries. What are your thoughts on the matter? Is it the future? Can it be done? Or is it just a foolish fairy-tale? Link to article: Want to...

Norway, the happiest country in the world (apparently).

Nope, but we executed most of those as well. Either way, that was more than 60 years ago and has little to do with the Norwegians who make up society now. Your argument was silly, and you got called on it. Deal with it. As mentioned earlier, no-on is above being criticized. No-one is right...

Norway, the happiest country in the world (apparently).

Personally I find the varm summers to be more of a problem than the cold winters. In the winter you can always just put on varmer clothes if you're cold. In the summer you can only take off so much. ;) It is possible, and while I haven't driven from the exact southern point to the exact...

Sorry. Didn't quite get what you were aiming for. No dodging intended. ^_^ I guess most days I'm a 7 or 8. Some days are better and some worse of course.

Norway, the happiest country in the world (apparently).

Oh, I'm quite happy with my life. :) I have a fullfilling and meaningful job, I make enough not to miss anything, I have good friends and family, a loving fiancè, hobbies that challenge my creativity... Can't complain much really.
