Certainly religious individuals can be fractious but again this isn't unique to religion and is a general characteristic of people.
In my own country (UK) political discussion has become extremely unpleasant of late.
In my experience few discussions about religion end well and there is rarely any gain to had from starting one. This is broadly true for any topic that people feel strongly about and certainly isn't unique to Islam.
There is a reason why many ban discussion of religion and politics in groups...
My understanding is that you should use the tools of Buddhism to achieve peace of mind but then put them down once you're done with them.
To me being devout would indicate an inability to let go.
I don't think it's about not enjoying the sense but rather not relying on said enjoyment to keep yourself happy since they only provide short terms boosts to your moods and the costs associated with constantly achieving short term pleasures are detrimental in the long term. It's better to use...
I live in a kind of rough area so I'd probably relocate pretty quickly because all the chavs would probably start raiding peoples houses when they no longer had benefits to sustain them. I've got plenty of camping gear so in terms of shelter I'd be alright and I reckon I'd be able to live off...
Personally I think that we should leave Afghanistan and let them to sort out their own problems because in the long term that is the only thing which is going to bring any stability to the country. Unless the people have made a conscious decision to stand up to the local warlords/taliban nothing...

The problem is that the message is too...
Sometimes people construct elaborate fantasies in order to make their beliefs about the world more believable. We all do it to a greater or lesser degree it's just that rather than believing we're not as chubby as we are by insisting the camera adds a few pounds some of us choose to believe that...
What is it? The belief that an idea is true before it's been verified.
Reason? Individuals rarely have time to subject an issue to detailed study before making a decision. Add to this social pressures to align with a particular view point and very quickly people build a worldview which is based...
If I wanted to discourge people from breaking religious law I'd probably try to use means which are painful and drawn out where possible to intimidate others into behaving. There is also the secondary issue that most authorities which still execute people for religious reason aren't particually...
Indeed it's far better to keep children ignorant of knowledge which can prevent unwanted pregnanies while simultaneously preaching to them the evils of abortion. Then again maximising human reproduction is one of Christianities goals so perhaps the proponents of this law aren't completely...
