I've played sports and my son has played sports at a private Christian school and in most instances athletes don't pray to win, they pray to have a good game, do their best, for safety for all, even the other team and to be good witnesses in their actions. They do however sometimes thank God...
Justification doesn't come from ourselves, "for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." It comes from the one that we have faith in. Romans 3:28 "So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law." In other words, unfortunately, sometimes there is no way to...
Here's a great book where an atheist has the time and resources to travel the world investigating the claims for and against Jesus with the top researchers in each field and ultimately has to accept the truth.
I like this book. It's about an atheist that turns theist because the scientific evidence points him to the truth. He could not intellectually remain an atheist after finding out that all of the sciences work together to support and sustain life on this planet.
When the scientific evidence shows that the universe shouldn't exist in it's present form, yet an atheist says "just trust science", then that is a science gap filler. The atheist is saying "there is a gap in our knowledge and I will fill it with science" "Just wait on science to discover more...
Which God is for the atheist to ponder. We can see from the OP that science is merely the gap filler for the atheist to satisfy their curiosity about the universe. They have faith that science will one day find the answer and that faith is based on a pre-adherence to naturalism.
Here is one thing that I do think. It is pretty easy to show how atheism is merely a faith based belief system, based on presuppositions of naturalistic thought and acceptance. However all creators aren't the same once you study them. :)
Follow the logic:
1) Science says that the universe shouldnt exist in its present form.
2) The Bible says that God created the universe in its present form.
3) The universe does exist in its present form.
4) Therefore God exists.
something isnt quite adding up....
I'm just after the truth, I don't necessarily care if I came from monkeys, dogs, mud, dust, startdust, dung, etc... It doesn't matter to me, I just want the truth and the truth isn't always "it's science". What is really being said is "it's naturalism", "its philosophy", "get rid of religion"...
You don't believe that they really believe what they are saying? I certainly do, sure they make money, but who doesn't need money or want money to live on. Richard Dawkins makes money off of books and speaking, does that mean he doesn't believe what he is saying?
Again, nobody is saying that or has ever said that from what I have seen. When I say a dog came from a non-dog that doesn't specify the time frame. It had to have happened in the evolution tree model.
The web of life and the tree of life are different in more than name only, in supposedly how organisms evolved. I suppose the hard science supports both. What we have is the supposed mechanism of evolution being used to support whatever model of the times there is. Now the tree of life is wrong...
Nobody said that a dog gave birth to a non-dog, matter of fact creationists say that can't happen. However the tree of life shows dogs coming from non-dogs.
