See, I completely disagree with that. I don't think people should be left-out just because of where they live. PAN knows there are people in rural (and rural doesn't equal remote. I live just outside of Newcastle, it's not exactly a small place) areas that are interested in such events. Even ONE...
I don't mean to be rude, but did you read my post. I'm NOT in Sydney. I'm about 3.5 hours drive from there.
Well, yes, I understand that and I'm not suggesting they should. However, the blatant disregard and palming-off or people who aren't in major cities is quite rude, IMO. Same with the...
P.S. Just noticed there is a lot of discussion about Neopaganism VS Paganism on these forums. Just wanted to clarify that I've always felt "Neopaganism" to be someone who identifies as pagan but does not necessarily practice all , if any, of the traditional pagan tapping. For example, I don't...
Hello folks,
I've not posted here in a while as I've become somewhat jaded with my spiritual life. It took me a long time to find the right path, which turned out to be paganism. I read as much as I could, I joined discussion forums (other than this one) and learnt everything available to me...
I can see why reconstructionism would put people off. One of the biggest reasons for my going to paganism/ wiccas as the freedom it gave. Reconstructionism seems to enforce certain deities and practices on people, which is not something I at all agree with.
@ Mata: Thanks for the explanation. I did Google reconstructionist methodology but didn't really get anywhere so any info would be great. Or, if it's easier for you, just point me towards a web site. :D
I think you're misunderstanding how 'dark' is used in this context. It doesn't mean...
Possibly. When searching it on-line I've been able to find very little. As for magazines there are really only two pagan magazines here in Australia and both are VERY fluffly and pretty much 90% aimed towards women, which I also have a big problem with (again, what happened to balance?). If you...
That is a nice thought on the Divine there, Horizon. For myself, I think of the Divine as kind of universal power, both light and dark, merciful and vengeful, that has an consciousness above any kind we know or understand. And, honestly, I'm not sure if I WANT to understand it, I quite like...
I recently found this interview with author John Coughlin talking about his book on dark paganism. I've read a little about dark paganism on various web sites and I must say it is something I've responded to.
I myself have grown tired of the light and "fluffy" stuff I see on pagan-centric...
So LHP is a pagan religion, as a pagan religion is anything that isn't Christian, Muslim or Judaism? So you could, theoretically, have a LHP wiccan? I don't believe in the Christian God at all, so that automatically cuts out Satan IMO.
Firstly, let me appologise for this lengthy post. Secondly, I don't claim to have huge amounts of knowledge, so bare with me.
For the last two to two and a half years I've been practicing pagansim. After a lot of research and reading it felt 'right' to me. However, over the last few months...
From what I've read it seems that LHP and satanism goes hand in hand. However, I would like to ask if this is indeed the case; can someone be LHP without being satanic?
The reason I ask this is that I strongly believe in the power of the self, the ability that, through one's actions, you can...
So, to put that in terms my feble brain can understand (:D) paganism is the "form/medium" and wicca is the "genre"? It's basically an umbrella term?
I'll have to research some of those religions you mention more closely as I don't have a great knowledge of some of them.
Thanks again...
I reckon! Thanks so much for that incredible reply, Shyanekh!
Again, that knowledge comes from the limited sources I have at my disposal. It's a shame, because I know there is so much to learn, I just don't have the sources to do so.
That is a damn good point, and not one that has occured...
Sorry to bump such an old topic, but this is something I've been thinking about a lot recently.
I consider myself Wiccan. It was the first path I found that really felt "right" to me. However, I've been wondering lately if I should indeed be calling myself "wiccan" or "pagan". I have listed...
I am in the same situation and as such am a solitary by necessity. I don't know if I'd join a coven even if there was one where I live. I know of a few open circle rituals that go on but they are a number of hours drive from where I am so I've not attended one yet. It's something I plan on doing...
