UU Identity (and who in the Spirit of Life's name am I?)

I would actually respond to the question "Are you a Christian?" with "Yes, I am a Unitarian!". I don't think Unitarianism has left its Christianity - it's just the mainstream English-speaking that has done that, along with some non-English speaking congregations as well. I have a problem with...

    Right-Wing UUs

If I may comment from this side of the huge lake, both political parties in the United States are "right-wing". I also wonder why people don't consider the other political parties for a change.

    If a soul cannot die..

The body is not just a shell. The body is you, and the soul is you as well. The third scriptural reference from Matthew says "rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell". So the soul can die. In the biblical account, only God is given unconditional immortality. If God has created...

Fellow Christians: I Don't Think I Really Understand The Trinity

There is not even only one doctrine, but multiple doctrines. The followers of these different trinitarian doctrines have persecuted even eachother, which means they place quite an importance to a correct understanding. Choosing one would be an enormous task. I've seen people with all the...

    Religions in a nutshell

Same here. Mark 12 28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this...

Why Didn't the Protestants Reject Jesus' Divinity?

Many reformators certainly just wanted to bury the subject without thinking about it, this much is true, and it happens today as well. Sometimes the lack of critical thinking on a doctrine is seen as a virtue, because a church's authority is seen as the ultimate guide. It was not a personal...

Why Didn't the Protestants Reject Jesus' Divinity?

I'm not sure, since I have no idea who you are or what you think.

Why Didn't the Protestants Reject Jesus' Divinity?

The Lutheran Reformation turned into a magisterial reform rather than actually going by the principles of the Reformation. It stagnated very quickly into institutionalism and legalism, as is seen with the period known as the Lutheran orthodoxy. Only after the Enlightenment did things start...

    nicest unitarian universalist church/cathedral?

Do "used to be" Unitarian churches count? European? If so, then this: http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/62935650.jpg If European ones still count, though which is still in use, then this: http://erdely.ma/fotoalbum/eredeti/kvaru_unitarius_templom_1301137905.jpg This one also looks...

    The Genesis

Genesis 6:3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." It's somewhat interesting that at this point the days of man became 120 years. Jeanne Calment is held to be the oldest today; she died at the age of 122...

    Christians who deny Christ's divinity/Trinity

Sure, you do it with all the others. I've seen the way you look at those other heretics. I want hugs too.

    Christians who deny Christ's divinity/Trinity

“If the man doesn’t believe as we do, we say he is a crank, and that settles it. I mean, it does nowadays, because now we can’t burn him.” - Mark Twain

    Christians who deny Christ's divinity/Trinity

Yes it is, atleast that's one reason. There are a lot of differences. For Unitarians, God as our Father is very important. Jews don't believe in Jesus or his teachings, Unitarians do. Muslims, although they consider Jesus to be a part of their religion, Jesus' role is different. In Islam, Jesus...

    Christians who deny Christ's divinity/Trinity

Yes, we are Christians. I don't believe the trinitarian doctrine. I believe in Christ's divinity. God dwells in him and God dwells in us.

    Not taking the bible literally

Not at all inappropriate, I wonder this as well. It would nice to get a Jewish point of view as well. I guess sometimes people just don't realize what the Bible is.

Can an Atheist be a UU?

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date! I also think the answer was quite reasonable, but the writer is apparently still feeling a personal insult that Buehrens has "dared" to use certain words, which he somehow thinks were aimed at him. If he truly believed the same as the militant ones, then it...

Can an Atheist be a UU?

No, I haven't read the book, though I guess I should now. One needs not even read the book to see that the article's writer is misrepresenting what is said. The quote from the book that is on the article does not claim what he claims it does. He leaves out important words and only gets tangled...

You know, I think I'm Jewish

There's nothing stopping you from following the Old Testament commandments even while not being Jewish, though not everything can be followed. I'm not Jewish myself and would certainly never want to be Jewish. I find Jesus' teachings and the Noahide commandments/Ten commandments to be good.
