    A Candid Discussion on Homosexuality

I do not recall being put in charge of "right and wrong" and as a Zen Buddhist I must say that is really dualistic thinking and I don't even want to go down that path. As far as people being gay, so what not my business and has no impact on me whatsoever. I have quite a few gay friends and they...

Does religion impair vital critical thinking skills?

Since my religion is Buddhism and I am a Zen Buddhist I have no "belief" in anything that cannot not be weighed or measured thus reality and knowing are my guide even if I do not like the truth I accept it because it is the truth.

What If Your Country Becomes Islamic

Not possible, I live in a country that is 96% Buddhist, Buddhists tend not to digress. As there is no god in Buddhism and science is preferred to superstition and myth in Buddhism, I just never see it happening or Christianity for that matter, the population is less than 1% Christian and those...

Thanks Zenzero, I'm much more comfortable at e-sangha where I can learn and grow instead of having to defend myself.

Ah yes, I deleted the message because it was not intended for you. As I have not (and will not) be posting on the site I am unfamiliar with the new features and controls thus I clicked the wrong 'box' and sent you a message instead of the person it was intended for. In any event I hope all is...

I checked out forumsecure and it looks good. I think this might be a nice thing for my students and it will help them improve their English as well as discuss ideas. Thanks again for the information.

I'm here reading but I'm not posting anymore, I don't want to waste my time peeing in the wind on debates of the delusional and irrational thus I keep silent.

Long time no hear indeed. I have stopped posting and visiting the site in general. I get really frustrated when people try to tell me "what Buddhists believe" and it creates suffering thus I put an end to suffering by not posting or reading. If we were to dictate to someone of another belief...

    Religion v Religion

Ya know what don't tell me about Buddhism and I won't tell you about Baha'i, when you can read the teachings of the Buddha in Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese, Japanese, or anywhere other than the new age section in your local book store I might want to debate with you other than that you as a few other...

    Ghosts

Monkey mind indeed  due to attachment, desire and fear of the unknown.

    A Question of Logic

I hate math even when the numbers dress themselves up as letters.

    Religion v Religion

Very simply Buddhism is atheistic that is not to say there are not some "theistic" ideas in some sects of Buddhism but they come from Hinduism and older cultural religions that have been mixed over the last 2500 years. Very simply put Buddhist epistemology does not support the existence of one...

Is there a commonality between Jesus Christ and Hitler ?

I think it is kind of out of line to compare anyone to Hitler and as far as the "charismatic" effect that could be said of many political and religious leaders historically including Chairmen Mao however I feel it would be unfair and generally incorrect to make such comparisons. Just my feeling.

    Is the mind the enemy?

The objective is to tame the mind and make it listen to reason. No more monkey mind as my teacher used to put it, jumping from one thought to another with out reason or order. The mind conjures up the most unreasonable ideas and answers when it is left untrained.

Hundreds of Proofs of God’s Existence

This has been passed around the philosophy community fro as long as I can remember but it's nice to see it has made its way to the Internet.

Do Theistic Arguments Hold to a Lower Standard?

I agree 100% and I'm a huge Douglas Adams fan, I have all of his books and have read them over and over many times, he has a lot to say about "this god person" as he put it in The Hitchhikers Guide of the Galaxy. I'm not sure where the title came from but just for the record Douglas Adams was...

    Ghosts

With the exception of some Earth based religions I'm unsure how anyone believes in ghosts. In any event I think "ghosts" are a figment of our imagination that manifest in times of fear or uncertainty.
