    Paganism and (bad) History

I'm not sure what you mean by a non-christian faith. Hutton certainly acknowledges the presence of witches. I don't believe that the witches who were killed during the Inquisition were killed for their religious practices; I believe they were just killed for practicing witchcraft.

    Paganism and (bad) History

I agree intelligent Pagans are a good thing; however, I object to holding Pagans to higher standards than other religions (e.g. Christians) or to classifying them as fluffy Pagans otherwise. I haven't heard of anyone claiming all Christians that are not up on Augustine, Council of Trent or...

    Paganism and (bad) History

I guess I would distinguish between the layity and "clergy" or elders. I completely agree with you that authors and those who teach others need to the historical truth of what they are saying. However, I disagree that all Pagans should read Hutton, Clifton, Pike, etc. I think it is ok to say...

    Paganism and (bad) History

I have never heard that asserted before. I have heard that the number is more in the tens of thousands than the millions that most Pagans argue; however I have never heard the number as zero. Yes, many people accused of witchcraft were not witches but nothing I've heard suggests that none...

Christian mysticism and New Age mysticism

I'm not sure that I see the difference. While I agree that much New Age mysticism does cloak itself in pretentiousness, I don't think that it has to. Ultimately, I think mysticism is the same regardless of the label put on it. It seems to me that a dialogue of love cannot be had when you are...

Terrorism via Suicide Bombing Is the ONLY Option

But it hasn't been condoned. It is still called the occupied territories and there is still an international call for Israel to return them. Just because Israel hasn't returned them yet doesn't mean the international community condones it; only that they aren't willing to go to war over it.

Terrorism via Suicide Bombing Is the ONLY Option

Can you give any examples post-WWII where this has been condoned?

Terrorism via Suicide Bombing Is the ONLY Option

How about Mubarak Awad? Part of the problem is that non-violent action (NVA) is scary. As scary as it is to face someone when you've got a gun in your hand, it is a whole lot scarier to do it when you are unarmed. Frankly, I think Palestine is one area of the world where NVA could be very...

Terrorism via Suicide Bombing Is the ONLY Option

I have to add Non-Violent Action to the list. Although I don't have the sources with me, I know they have tried this in the past and had some success with it.

Does reincarnation and pantheism imply panentheism?

I have been struggling for a long time to decide if I believe in pantheism or panentheism. However, earlier today I was thinking about reincarnation, which I do believe in, and began thinking that reincarnation might imply transcendence which would imply panentheism (given at least pantheism)...

    Heterosexuals banned from gay bar

um, because they are friends with someone who is homosexual and they want to go get a drink after work? just a thought. :)

    The Triumph of "Multiculturalism."

While I think a politically-united world may be better for humanity, I'm afraid in the short to middle (and possibly) long-term, it will be economically worse for Americans (since minimum wage would then be a global minimum wage, environmental standards would be the lowest common denominator...

    Americans and ignorance towards religion

Here's an article in USA Today from about a month ago with a test that is a bit more general: http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2007-03-07-teaching-religion-cover_N.htm After getting my grade, I decided I needed to learn more about other religions.

    Yuvgotmel & Roli 1on1 comments.

I think that is very well said. However, many Christians could respond that they gain experience and knowledge when the Holy Spirit possesses (I really don't like that word) them and then only use the Bible to articulate the experience and knowledge that they have gained.

Woos. :D Dancing in the rain is the most fun (no wet sticky clothes). Dancing in the snow... well I haven't tried that yet but it sounds fun.

blackwater usa and the US gov--a conflict of interests?

While Blackwater may report only to the Executive Branch, it is Congress that is paying the bills. That says to me that Congress is benefiting from this in some way. One of the big benefits to having civilian contractors is that they can provide lots of campaign contributions that poor...

    He graduated!

Danistry, Congratulations!! Please thank him for his service and thanks to you too for yours. Too often people forget how much those on the front lines rely on their families and how much sacrifice families have to make as well. Thanks to both of you.

    Should Japan apologize?

Japan is still a country. It never stopped existing between WWII and today. The government of Japan represents Japan. The PM represents the government of Japan. If you believe that what Japan did during WWII (and WWI) was wrong (and I do), the Japan owes Korea an apology. It's like...
