How to tell if something is "Designed"

Design has much to do with purpose. I think you'd have to answer the question, "What is the purpose of the universe?" if you're asserting that it was created.

    ISIS already iover?

The media seems especially intent on inducing panic lately. "ISIS: Ten times worse than Al Qaeda, and six times more effective? Find out tonight at 10." "Midwest Respiratory Virus: The next black death, the American ebola, or a some sort of super cold? Our reporters have the answer."

For those who think science and christianity can tolerate each other

Either that or we're all holodeck characters who have achieved sentience on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Somewhere out there Geordi La Forge is regretting asking the Enterprise computer to create an opponent able to outwit Data.

    Matthew 16:17-19

I imagine there's something lost in translation during this verse. Anyone here know ancient Greek?

For those who think science and christianity can tolerate each other

Even worse, this tells me that God is a humanoid computer programmer in some alternate reality and that we're living in some kind of simulation. It's like The Sims but with more genocide. What if we're created, but God evolved via natural selection?! : hamster : Bum bum buuuummm! : hamster :

The Seven Days of Creation, Scripturally

Funny, I just cracked open my handy Bible and I've read the entire book of Genesis forwards and backwards...I don't see any mention of Jesus anywhere. What version of the Bible are you using?

    Love test.

I put in a quarter and it's always the same response...cold fish.

    Something Scarey Just Happened...

    Shadow People

When I was a kid at recess in elementary school I used to pretend that my shadow was a version of me living in a shadow world with other shadow kids with shadow kickballs and shadow swingsets...I was a very lonely child.

Are you one of the people who see 100 million colors?

My female friend probably could. I was helping her decide what colors to paint her living room and kitchen the other day. "It's all egg white or ivory white...coffee mousse or taupe." I can't see the difference between azure snow or meadow green.

Newton's first law of motion not practical

The great thing about Newton's Laws is that they can be tested by experiment...and for three centuries they withstood all conceptual tests, then our good buddies the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics appeared. Interestingly, both theories rely and preserve some of Newton's ideas...

Newton's first law of motion not practical

Aye, Newton was embracing Galileo and differing from Aristotle who thought that the natural state of all bodies was rest in the absolute frame, and that motion was a special state requiring continued force. It's the Galilean principle..uniform motion is relative.

    I Had a Funny Thought

Sure people have butts and nuts, but what does that leave me with? An abundance of 'ifs'? What am I supposed to do with those?

    I Had a Funny Thought

If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts, then we'd all have a merry Christmas... I've heard Chuck Norris can run so fast that he can punch himself in the back of the head two Thursdays ago.

Curse irreversibility and the 2nd law of thermodynamics...curse them!!!

There are two major philosophical schools concerning the origin and nature of knowledge. Empiricists (of which I am a fan) think that experience is the root of all knowledge. Rationalists think that reason is where knowledge originates. A hard core rationalist believes that one could plug his...

Massive Super-Predator Theorised In Australian Waters

I think that's a likely candidate. It's possible the shark got struck by lightning or something and nose dived...after all, they sink if they don't swim constantly. Fin sticking out of the water and then *BLAM!* a bolt from the blue.

'Man was created in the image of G-d'

Are we talking about Gozer the Traveler? My sources inform me that he will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. For example, during the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants...

Solar Panels Drain the Sun’s Energy, Experts Say

Engineers are way too mechanical in their reasoning...probably stems from their constant work with machinery. After all,..."Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And when you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you"
