Genesis1 says the sun appeared on day 4 after the fruit trees which is after 200 million years.
Genesis1 is saying that things each only appeared on a specific day - no overlap. The only exception I think is the Garden of Eden which had plants appearing a bit later. It is generally science...
No, once again it mentioned "the surface of the deep". That pretty much sounds like the ocean. The ocean was formed long after there was light. Your order is out of order.
If we assume for the sake of argument, that the days in Genesis were based on Relativistically time dilated frames of reference, where years on an earth reference, can pass in seconds during the BB, and also assume the science estimates of earth years are true, for each phase of universal...
Here's my belief - the bible is a collection of writings spanning thousands of years and by many different authors. It's not a science book or a history book - it's a collection of books of spiritual truths mainly. I don't know or care now the earth began to be completely honest. I believe...
Genesis1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good...
There are a lot of ideas about how to interpret Genesis1 and 2. The Genesis creation story seemed like a history to me but it took a while for me to start seeing how the story can be historically reliable in a creative way and fit what science has discovered in a creative way.
To test the faith of OECs and provide ammunition for non-OECs.
This forum is in the debates area. Is your post which seems to discourage me being productive?
Yes you’re right it was referring to procreation.
Genesis1:
"And God said, 'Let the land produce living creature'."
Where does the Bible say that?
Are you sure that this is the best translation? As far as i know you are wrong here
Leviticus 19:
Ye shall keep My statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind; thou...
Perhaps you did not understand the Genesis1 passage.
Genesis1 says:- Earth brought forth cretaures of all kinds in according to God's will. (see the translation of NRSVUE above)
Evolutionary Biology says:- Evolution through natural selection (nature is earth only) gives rise to (ie brings...
But why? Have you scanned the Evolution Vs Creationism directory? Did you find anything that led you to believe the thread would be productive?
The one thing that is absolutely clear in Genesis1 -- irrespective of translation -- is that when God said be fruitful and multiply it was not...
We all live in God's creation. We can see that it works. If the Bible record of how it was done doesn't conform to what we understand about orders of operation, we are still living in God's creation, and we can still see that it works.
I guess I don't understand; it seems like this thread...
You should look into how we know that the Earth is billions of years old. Unless you want to claim that God is a liar.
If God cannot lie Genesis cannot be read literally.
A magazine published by our Goberning body in 1990 says:
"Some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says that God made “flying creatures” and “great sea monsters.” Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth...
