    Darwinism is evil, isn't it?

“If Jesus had been killed twenty years ago, Catholic school children would be wearing little electric chairs around their necks instead of crosses.” ― Lenny Bruce “The spiritualization of sensuality is called love: it is a great triumph over Christianity.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

    Darwinism is evil, isn't it?

Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Mark 8:34 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Matthew 6:3-4

    The Resurrection is it provable?

Oh wow, we had this discussion? You learned nothing? Scholars have long suspected Mark knew the Epistles because Mark is full of memorably Pauline themes. Paul of course equated Jesus with both the Passover and the Yom Kippur sacrifice, both rolled into one (his death atones for all sins like...

Would Jesus put up with the very wealthy and very poor?

Wrong. Mark created the Jesus story from Paul's letters, and other fiction Scholars have long suspected Mark knew the Epistles because Mark is full of memorably Pauline themes. Paul of course equated Jesus with both the Passover and the Yom Kippur sacrifice, both rolled into one (his death...

    Is Jesus God?

I believe that there are many verses in John that point to the idea that the Lord Jesus Christ is God - yet He is not God the Father.

    Is Jesus God?

One thing I want to say is that the Koran says the Son of God/the Messiah is not God because there is no part of God. I think if Jesus were perfect only then could He be God without being a part of God.

    Is Jesus God?

Yes! Jesus is God. His Father who is also God made him that way.

    Is Jesus God?

Matthew 25:31-46; 31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:33 And...

    Is Jesus God?

samtonga43 believes that those verses mean that Jesus is God, so I looked up all these verses to see if any of them show that Jesus is God. I see no indications of any such thing but since I did all this work I decided to start a new thread for people to comment upon. Using your analytical...

Jesus' Four Failed Prophecies About Him Returning In The Lifetimes Of His Apostles

I could waste my time going through all those verses but I would only end up proving Jesus is not God -- again. I might do it just for fun, if I have time. :D All you succeed in doing is providing more free advertising for Baha'u'llah. ;) I already see two verses the refer directly...

    The Love Hoax

.... and I find self-sacrifice is also supported by religious belief such as: Disowning self - Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23 That does Not have to include happiness. After all, Jesus forewarned his genuine followers would be hated by all nations - Matthew 10:22

    JW and people's safety

Understood. Could we forget about doctors for now. I think we need to get things in proper perspective and focus. Oh yes. You are having trouble seeing. :D Please, what do you mean by "but we choose not to out of faith"? That way I can better understand what you are seeing. I don't understand...

Mark 8:34 - "take up their cross"

Absolutely so. As you have already pointed out in the passage immediately preceeding Mark 8:34 he was predicting his own death. Matthew 26:1-2 discloses that he was aware that the method was crucifixion. This came from Deuteronomy 21:23 ("anyone who is hung is cursed in the sight of God").

Mark 8:34 - "take up their cross"

In Mark 8:34 Jesus says: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me..." What was he thinking when he said "take up their cross" - isn't that a reference to his crucifixion - which had not yet happened when we get to Mark 8? Or was it a common...

How useful are the Gospels in regards historical information?

Very similar to bultmans view. Brother, I understood his rejection from your initial statement itself, I am asking about what he is proposing.

How useful are the Gospels in regards historical information?

Yes, he and the others cited are raising arguments against the utility of the criteria of authenticity for historical Jesus scholarship. Correct. I don't necessarily concur entirely but I do welcome their revisionism of the method / their critiques of the established methodology. In contrast...
