I'm a Conservative Jew, not Orthodox.

We count the days from Pesach to Shavuot as commanded by G-d (Lev 23:15-16 and Deut 16:9-10). Every night from from the second night of Pesach to the night before Shavu'ot, we recite a blessing and state the count of the omer. The count reminds us that the redemption from slavery was not complete until we received the Torah. Shavuot is the Festival of the Weeks, not the feast of weeks. It occurs on the 50th day.

I was hoping that an orthodox Jew could explain practices that relate to the feast of weeks.

I happen to believe that understanding these correctly are the key to understanding events in the life of Jesus. I am discussing these issues with Christians on the thread entitled 'Three days and nights'.

The particular question I would like answered is to do with the timing of the wave offering of the firstfruits. When does this take place? Is it in the evening of the second day of Pesach?
