  • My guess is the people will win round one: That is, Mubarak will go soon. He will be followed by his VP sooner or later. After that, I think it is anyone's guess what sort of new government will emerge in the end.

My hunch is the sooner the people "go home", the less likely they are to get a representative government. If they can keep with it until more or less everyone involved agrees to a representative government, then the people have a fighting chance. But at times like this, there are always forces in every country who try to seize the revolution to their own -- and not the people's -- ends.

That, at least, is how I see it.
Thank you so much! That was extremely helpful, Abibi. You brought up some aspects of the situation I was unaware of.
    oh, i didn't include in-laws. his parents live here too...make it 10. :p it's a fun, chaotic house lol

    all the best

    Salaam,

I've been lurking, but I guess I haven't had too much to say lately. You've been doing an excellent job though! I'll be sure to post when I have something valuable to add. :D I have six daughters, mA and they keep me pretty darn busy. How are you?

    WaSalaam
Thanks, Abibi - I am a very spoiled girl! You're right about a mother's love too. It's very touching to me that my seventy three year old mother still thinks a forty nine year old woman is her baby.

Thank you for the birthday hoopla!
What you say does make sense. But I think that if we seek (I say we because I too am a student after all) true knowledge it is not always correct to think that it will come easily. If it was presented suddenly to us, perchance we may not appreciate it or repel it from ourselves. So patience is the key, until God's grace intervenes.
I read that book previously. The concerned quotation was from Arberry's translation of Fihi Ma fihi, styled "Discourses of Rumi". Why do you ask?
    Not bad, Abibi, yourself?

People protest here all the time. However, other than venting their rage at who is in power, I doubt people would go about trying to overthrow the government. As usual, we'll wait and see what happens.

"Little sister"? I haven't heard that one. XD I think they consider us a part of Greater Syria sometimes, though.

    Take care.
    Hello Abibi!

Ravens croak more often. ;) Crows do most of the cawing. You can hear the difference online. :p
