I am not a trained archeologist but i am keen on the cro magnon era and i enjoy crawling on my knees in unexplored caves. Two of the reasons we moved here.

My wife and I visited a cave in the Dordogne, years ago. Can’t be more specific, but there were paintings.

Heaven for me would be the ability to travel through time and space, just to see and to learn, exactly what’s been going on in this universe of ours. And then, once I’ve covered it all, to have my memory wiped, so I could start all over!

My introduction to archaeology involved tales of the Red Lady of Paviland. Not a lady at all, of course.

I used to be a coal-miner; crawling around the knees is familiar! I also like caves....but they now have to be rather large ones... and easily getatable. Comes with age and an expanded waistline.

Surely there were no miners in Wales?

This area has many accessible caves, at least one with a railway system taking you to 30,000 year old cave art. And one with its own underground waterway with docks

No miners in Wales?......cheek! That’s like saying there’s been no hotpot in Lancashire!

Ahh, but there aren’t any miners now. I was the last of my family.

I seem to recall that the cave we visited had a railway. Sure of it. Thank you.

You have to realise, of course, that none of the cave paintings – nor any of the skulls, fossils (not even the plant fossils I’ve seen in the coal), and so on – are more than 6000+ years old! (wink).

Lancashire what ? ;-)

I blame maggie thatcher

Rouffignac?

I did some work on the graphics for lasceau 4. After it opened i was still finishing off. I had to work around tours.

A loud texas accent whined 'thats wrong Mildred, tell them thats wrong, god did not make this good earth until 6000 years ago'

Mildred replied 'oh shut up Wilbur'
