:D Finally after nearly 2 years of being unemployed I have a job and start on Monday.
The wage isn't great but I don't care, it's still a job.
I'll let ya'll know how it goes on my first day.
Really really can't wait to be able to have that Friday feeling, I've missed it for so long lol.

Thank you for your kindness it's appreciated, it's not a great job but it sounds like an interesting one.
I'll be working in a warehouse where they pick, pack and deliver packages to inmates in prisons in the northwest of England. They pack all sorts ranging from tobacco to sugar etc.
I went for the interview a couple of weeks ago and found out last Friday that I'd got it.
The interview was actually quite humorous, it got really interesting after I was asked if I'd have any problems with delivering stuff to the actual prisons lol. So I think that could be a really interesting aspect of the job.
Like I said it's not a great job but it pays ok and it isn't working through an employment agency which is a good thing for me because I absolutely loath them *cough* Parasites *cough* lol.

DP congrats. It actually can be a really good job if you can stay there for a year. The reason is that warehouse logistics is one of those jobs where, at least in the USA, many of the jobs are only open to people with experience at the supervisor level and above. The warehouse grunts in addition sometimes get free training and licensing on how to drive a forklift which, if they take it pays lower middle class to middle class wages in texas without overtime. The point is that you actually have a job which can produce future job opportunities that wouldn't have been available to you otherwise. I am really happy for you. Good luck in your new job!

DP congrats from downunder. Regardless of anything else It puts you back in the workforce, from there bigger and better prospects can be on the horizon. Long term unemployment can be very depressing. So with money in your pocket and an uplifted morale that Friday feeling will be something to enjoy

Congrats DP...unemployment sucks. That's not a bad job if you're not afraid of a bit of hard work. Expect to be knackered for a while 'til you're used to it though. A few of the guys where I work view it as a paid workout.;)
Do you do paper picking or do you guys use a voice picking system?

Well it's day 4 now and I'm still enjoying it, the people are great and the job is easy as far as jobs go.
Basically it's order picking from sheets and putting said picked items into a box ready for the packers, yes it's boring but as I said, the people are great and I just keep my head down and work.
i think the only thing that's slightly disheartening is what some of the prisoners get, they get treated better then our soldiers in Iraq and something about that seems wrong, very very wrong.
Forgive me for being naive but isn't prison meant to be about punishment? Aren't human rights outside the bounds of being fed and clothed meant to be kind of dropped the moment you become a criminal?
I think I'm really dreading around Christmas time when these criminals who are meant to be being punished are ordering electrical items from catalogues.
But I'm trying really hard not to let that get to me while I work my *** into the ground so I can get a nice shining reference from then when I decide to leave, which I'll be looking into after Christmas, on moral grounds I don't see myself wanting to last longer then that doing what I'm doing for the dregs of society. These people even have such little regard for us people doing this work for them on the outside that they still expect us to work and deliver on Christmas day, now doesn't that say it all? Really?

After prison you realize their opportunities of success and fulfillment are in some cases nil?

Not the case in this country my friend where we are governed more-so by the European human rights laws then our own which make make ex-convicts lives alot easier once they leave prison.
And besides, like I said, these criminals leave their rights to a decent life behind the second they commit the crime.
