Sheep and Goats!

If you believe the Bible sheep=good, goats=bad.

Now in my experience of both creatures, goats are far more intelligent than sheep. Sheep are easily led, goats tend to be the awkward squad and think for themselves. I know which creature I would sooner be!

It's a figure of speech.

Though I doubt most Christians follow the 'blind sheep' mentality. There are many of us that are meek as sheep and want to follow our Lord and Saviour, but we do choose for ourselves.

My question would be why is the quality of the sheep being docile a bad thing automatically? Why is the quality of a goat not being docile all the time automatically a good quality? Also why do you feel that christians are automatically not thinking for themselves when they choose to follow their religion along with its precepts?

In Patrickism, I don't use parables that stereotype or degrade animal and other lifeforms, even swines deserve pearls.

Now you know why sheep are "good" and goats are "bad." :D

Seriously, though, sheep are smarter than you give them credit for. They're round about in the same area as goats, and depending on the breed, goats and sheep can be very similar.

And in Jesus' parable, it's the religious people who are the goats.

In some cultures, both are considered delicious.
They are. I'm always surprised at how many people will eat lamb but think it's disgusting to eat goat. They obviously haven't tried it.

That's a good point, MB. Those without love, compassion and service are the "goats". It has nothing to do with right or wrong belief.

Matthew 25 said:
41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

People talk about Jesus being a shepherd leading his flock. I don't want to be led I want to think for myself!

As you said He leads His flock, not everyone belongs to this flock so you can be happy that you have a chance of being excluded from this flock of sheep who follow their Shepherd where ever He goes. All you have to do is go your own way, break away from the crowd of sheep and don't cry out to be rescued. It would be safe to assume judging by your comments on here that you have already done this.
Only the thing is, you keep on talking about Christianity as though you are still attached to it, you can't quite let go of it, perhaps you seek the Love and Joy that knowing Jesus Christ can bring but you can only receive it on the Good Shepherds Terms.

Why do you consider the two mutually exclusive?

Jesus leads us to everlasting life .
"I am the way and the truth and the life."—JOHN 14;6 and this following verse is what he said means everlasting life .
"This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."—JOHN 17:3.sheeplike people will listen to what Jesus said.
"He will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats."—MATTHEW 25:32.
In his prophecy about the last days, Jesus foretold: "All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will put the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left." The sheep are humble people who associate with and support Christ’s brothers, submitting to God’s rule. The goats are stubborn people who reject Christ’s brothers and do nothing to support God’s rule. With what result? Jesus said: "These [the goats] will depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones [the sheep] into everlasting life."—Matthew 25:31-46.
