Commentary on Matthew 4:7, read and learn:

Matthew 4:7 Jesus said to him, "It is written further, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament)

This scripture deals with when the Son of God (YHWH) was being tempted by the Devil to disobey his Father, Almighty God (YHWH). Interestingly, if Jesus (Yeshua) had actually been Almighty God (YHWH) as some misguided ones claim in the support of various myths, there would have been no reason for Satan the Devil to tempt him as one would NOT be disobedient to himself; how utterly ridicules a claim as it truly defies reason and common sense.

When Jesus (Yeshua) said, "It is written," he was making reference to Deuternonomy 6:16, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God, as thou temptedst him in the place of temptation." (Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible), and thereby using scripture to show that the Devil was a deceiver with respect his attempt to get Jesus (Yeshua) to disobey his Father (YHWH). This fact is highlighted at many places in the Bible in other incidents involving other individuals refused to do this-or-that which they considered wrong and stated either what God (YHWH) stated and/or others. In fact, the Rechabites and Daniel refused wine citing a previously written or stated command of either their forefathers and/or God (YHWH) as testified to at Jeremiah 35:5-6, for the Rechabites, "And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine and cups: and I said to them: Drink ye wing. 6 And they answered: We will not drink wine: because Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying: You shall drink no wine, neither you, nor your children, forever:" (Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible); And at Daniel 1:8-9, "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not be defiled with the king's table, nor with the wine which he drank: and he requested the master of the eunuchs that he might not be defiled. 9 And God gave to Daniel grace and mercy in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs." (Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible). Also, with respect Jesus (Yeshua), Luke 4:5, makes this point even clearer, "And the devil led him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And he said to him, 'To thee will I ghive all this power and their glory; for to me they have been delivered, and to whomever I will I give them. 7 Therefore if thou wilt worship before me, the whole shall be thine.' 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, 'It is written, The Lord thy God shall thou worship, and him only shalt thou serve.'" (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament).

Now Jesus (Yeshua) clearly said, ", The Lord thy God shall thou worship, and him only shalt thou serve." And did not say or indicate that he was God (YHWH); nor did the Devil who had been at one time in heaven address his as God (YHWH). The Devil knew that he was the Son of God as testified to at Matthew 3:17, by God (YHWH) his Father, "And behold, a voice from the heavens said, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament); And at 1 John 3:8, "He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil." (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament); And at 1 John 4:9, "By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him." (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament); Interestingly this last scripture clearly shows that Jesus (Yeshua) was NOT his Father (YHWH), but had been sent by His Father (YHWH) clearly showing them as two distinct individuals or spirit beings, one subordinate to the other who was superior and NOT co-equal.

This same fact, that Jesus (Yeshua) is NOT his Father, Almighty God (YHWH) is recorded many places in the Bible such as at Acts 8:37, "And Philip said: If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answering, said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament); And at, Ro 8:3, "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh." (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament). Once more shows them as distinct individuals with the Son being sent by the superior one, his Father (YHWH).

Now let's all check the scriptures daily to learn more about God (YHWH) and his Son, Jesus (Yeshua) and not be mislead into myths such as the Duality or Trinity as warned against by Titus 2:1, "But do thou speak what befits the sound doctrine:" (The Confraternity Edition of The New Testament); being ever mindful of Acts 17:11, "Now these were of a nobler character than those of Thessalonica and they received the word with great eagerness, studying the Scriptures every day to see whether these things were so." (Confraternity Edition of The New Testament), believe no one, check for yourself.
