Any George Harrison Fans?

My favorite rock singer is George Harrison. I rented Concert for George from the library last night. I was so moved that I had to dig out my old video of the Concert for Bangladesh and watched it today.

George H. wrote some very beautiful songs with deep words and very lovely melodies. I never tire of listening to his beautiful songs. I was very sad when he passed away from cancer nearly 6 years ago.

Any other George Harrison fans? (mostly those who like his solo stuff better than his Beatles stuff)

*Raises hand* 'A Concert for George' is such a touching memoriam. I was glad to see that Dhani (his son) was there to share in it.

I have been an avid fan of George Harrison since the 60's. Personally I always felt his songs were the best on The Beatles albums. All Things Must Pass made a huge impact on me and not only because it was a three record set. Likewise, the timing of Living in the Material World hit at just the right time for me.

I played "Isn't it a Pity" the other day and loved it as much as I did the first time I sat glued to the (mono) am radio in 1970. I also remember buying The Ballad of John and Yoko in 1969 simply because it had Old Brown Shoe on the "B" side. Don't get me started, lol.

It is our great fortune that we were alive to see this amazing creature.

George Harrison is my second favourite solo Beatle. In general, he's kind of in the middle of all the singers that I like and don't like. I enjoy listening to his music if it's on, but I don't think I would ever buy one of his albums (or turn it down if somebody bought one for me).

I'm not a fan exactly (I like some songs but i don't go wild about his music), but I am kind of an ex-neighbour. Admittedly, I didn't exactly go around for coffee or anything, but when we were first married my wife and I rented a small house in the grounds of a large house next door to the mansion he owned in Henley-on-Thames. We did occasionally catch glimpses of him (and his house is beautiful). Just thought that might be interesting.

*raises hand* George Harrison fan here. I remember when he passed away, one of my methods of coping with his death was to drive in my car around the countryside listening to "My Sweet Lord." :sad4: <------Mystic in the car that day

I have found myself nodding to George Carlin when he bluntly stated that "the wrong two Beatles died first."

Lennon will always be my favorite (I continue to get chills and goosebumps every time I listen to the album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band), but The Quiet Beatle comes in at a VERY close second.

Peace,

I'm also a great Harrison fan, both with the Beatles and after.

In addition to his excellent music George helped shape the group's religious soul with his passionate Hindu faith.

Alas, he smoked like a chimney.

Isn't It A Pity...

I have been listening to a lot of George lately, both Beatle songs and solo. I like the way he was able to mix his Eastern Philosophy with Western.
My favorite songs of his:
Beatles songs--
Here Comes The Sun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
The Inner Light
Something
Solo--
Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)
Blow Away
Dark Horse
Any Road

What are some of your favorites of his. :)

OMG - I loved Across the Universe (had some of his songs, ya know). Anyway, the visuals were better than the music.
