I'm not dead

James the Persian

Hi all,

Just thought I'd best let people know what's been happening and why I haven't been around for a while - just in case anyone was wondering.

Some of you may know, though most probably don't, that shortly before I vanished I had been having some 'difficulties' here and the first thing I want to make quite clear o those who do know abiout this that my disaappearance had nothing whatsoever to do with that sorry episode. I apologise to those who don't know what I'm blathering about.

What did actually happen is that my employer got into serious financial difficulties and, pretty much out of the blue, made a large number of us redundant. I then began frantically looking for a job and did little else but interview, and worry, for a couple of weeks. Then I actually ended up being made an offer i simply couldn't refuse, the only trouble being that it means moving my family down south so at the moment I'm commuting to the south for work during the week while I look for houses down here and my wife tries to sell our house in Yorkshire. It's a complete nightmare and doesn't leave me much time for forums.

I've got a little spare time just at the moment (though probably not for long), hence this post. Not sure how long I'll be on for or when I might be back next but I promise that I will be contributing again once things settle down for me in the real world - otherwise who will provide the counter balance to those skewed western ideas of what Christianity is?

James!!! *glomps* Big Squishy Hug!!! :hugehug:

I had a feeling you weren't dead, but I for one am so happy you've caught us up on some details. I'm sorry you were suddenly caught in the middle of your former employer's difficulties. It's obvious you're transitioning right now, but it's good to see you taking one step at a time.

So happy you've chimed in. Many blessings for good fortune to you and your beautiful family! :flower:

Have I mentioned how good it is to see you?

Peace,
Mystic

Thanks guys, it's nice to be welcomed back. I sincerely hope that any changes since I have been gone have been for the better (I'm thinking mainly of the quality of the discussions - they were in their usual rubbish summer mode when I dropped off). Hopefully nobody else has vanished in my absence. Actually, the break was probably good for me, to be honest, though if I'd done it voluntarily I'd have probably been more considerate and let you know what was happening sooner. The problem at the moment is that I only have acess to a computer at work (and as you can probably imagine, that's when I'm usually busy, though not right now) and when I'm home at the weekend - and as I don't see Gabi and the kids all week, I have much higher priorities than the internet when I am home.

It's funny that I was thinking of you just yesterday, went and found your user name, clicked on it and saw you hadn't been here since August 10th. I wondered why.

I'm glad to hear you and your family are fine despite some big changes. Best of luck with your new job.

welcome back we missed you
Glad things are getting sorted out.
I did four months between Bradford and kent... it was no Joke.
Hope you find a local Romanian Orthodox church I expect they are few and far between.
Though there must be some thing in London.

Well I hope I do rather less than four months, but Barnsley to Oxfordshire's no joke either. We're unlikely to be able to regularly attend a Romanian church, though we will be close enough to London to get to the church there from time to time. Most of the time I should think that we'll end up visiting the Orthodox church in Oxford, which is shared between a Greek and a Russian parish, but also has a number of Romanians, Moldovans etc. in the congregation. It'll be hard leaving our parish behind but what can you do? At least down here we're much closer to my son's godmother, who's also Romanian, and I have a lot of old schoolfriends in this neck of the woods, which makes things easier.

I can relate to the frustrations. Having done it twice myself. Both times coming right after the births of my two oldest.

Good to see you back and I will keep you in my prayers.

Good luck James! I know what kind of hell househunting is, so I hope everything works out for you and your family.
Take care of yourself, take some time to relax amidst the chaos, and come back to us when you're ready! :)

It's nice not to be dead.

It's good to see you back James, i for one certainly missed your perspective on the forums.

Good luck with the house hunting, although moving from the north to the south can't be fun considering the housing market of late, unless you happen to have a spare quarter of a million lying around :sad4:.

James! You have no idea how much I've missed you while you were gone.

And I'm glad you're back to correct some of those skewed Western ideas. ;)

Best of luck trying to adjust to all those changes!
