Who says it fell into disuse? From what I've seen it's certainly enjoying a revival, along with tons of other mythologies.

Are you talking about Greek religion or Greek mythology?

Greek mythology has survived and still thriving today. Greek religion is today enjoying a revival, but far smaller than it had been before.
