Revelations; Book of Prophecy or Historical Cryptography?

The writers and apostles of the New Testament make it very clear that they thought they were living in the last days. Revelation says these things shall happen shortly, they are at hand. How can people stretch that over 2000 years? How could you interpret "shortly" and "these things are at hand" to mean thousands of years?

No in that case a specific amount of time was given, in the other just that it would "shortly come to pass," what's "short" can change from point of view.

Like ‘already said’ the start is a forgery….
Rev 1:1

Another thing that can say against the author, yet not against the prophecy contained as we can see that is real on many points:
Luk 18:6-9
(6) And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
(7) And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
(8) I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
(9) And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
Rev 6:10
(10) And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

Too many people take that and go bashing everyone else (my self included) we could do like the day of Jonah, if we understood….

I think a more interesting question would be, if we ever met someone who talked to GOD would we be willing to give them the same time and consideration we give our faithful Biblical authors.

But "day" is a specific length of time, and you generalized from there to conclude that "at hand" could mean virtually anything. So why could years be something else?

When it says a day is like a thousand years it's just saying got isn't bound by time in the same way we are, so from his perspective, and he has been around much longer, what seems like a long time to us may not be to him.

On this point of time, Sonic is correct and time does move differently….in heaven it is infinite….so what moment did you step in and step out is the time-line we can work from….yet that means angels could go to the beginning of time, then the end and call it a week in heavens time.
Yet reasoning is required to see matches that fit....

So when God says "the time is at hand," it could mean just about anything? Then what's the point of saying it?

the last days are the times we are living in right now , 1914 was the START of the last days , this was the time that Jesus recieved the legal right to the kingship and even though Gods heavenly kingdom was established and set up in the heavens at this time of 1914, Daniel 2;44 it was set up while human rulership was still going on, notice it says in the verse (inthe days of those kings ) God will set up a kingdom. but those kings(human kings) have had their day because soon Jesus will go into action and any opposers will be crushed out the way .so 1914 was the start of the last days for humans and their rulerships .bible prophecy is now well along in this time of the end, and 1914 is a most significant date . but most so called christians are in darkness to the last days, and the reason why they are in darkness is because there religious teachers fell asleep to bible prophecy and chronology. so they have inturn kept their flocks in darkness also​

From the viewpoint of Jehovah, in whose eyes a thousand years are but "as yesterday," 1,900 years is a short time when compared with the aeons of time that he spent in creating and preparing the earth for human habitation. (Psalm 90:4)

many things have been happening to Gods people, especially in the LORDS DAY , and the lords day was 1914 when Jesus was given the kingship Daniel 7;13-14 the lords day is well and truely on the gallop , Jesus is riding his white horse and many things are happening already .

that says it all really, it seems they are in darkness , the ones who are the channel that Jesus is using matthew 24;45-47 have understanding and revealing . and they have enlightenment indeed . John was a slave of God back when he wrote the book of revelation, but now the slaves of God are the channel that is dishing out good bible based spiritual food . and the understanding and revealing is being given out to the great crowd (domestics) it seems that some are in darkness and some are enlightened indeed. the understanding about the book of revelation is to be revealed to the faithful slaves of God . their is only one channel to go to for true enlightenment . and that channel is spoken of in matthew 24;45-47
"A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place." (Revelation 1:1a) its all happening .
