Bible Codes

Rex

Some of you may or may not be aware that there are researchers that claim the bible holds codes to the past, present, and future. The codes can tell you anything from the names of your family to world events.

Personally I'm not sure what to believe about these so called Bible Codes but I will let you make your own judgement.

I have also included a link to download a supposed bible code software that I couldn't get to work b/c I don't have Hebrew on my windows xp version. So maybe someone else here can get it to work.

It's called Super Bible Advanced Decoder 7.0

Anyways try your luck at cracking bible codes. And if you find any other information on the web about bible codes do post for us.

The Bible Code is simply another crystal ball with no chance of success. The Hebrew Bible has been changed in transmission, so we'd have to select which Hebrew text to use. If we need the original, then if it's just a few letters off, it's quite likely to destroy the ELS. However, I can assure everyone that it is more than a few letters off.

The Bible Code, without a reliable text, is a waste of time, and you'll be able to find quite a few things...even things that didn't happen.

I don't think it could work near as well as my Commander Cody Super Secret Decoder Ring. Hoo Boy, the stuff that I have figured out with that thing! :D

I take that as your refute to the subject at hand.

It's a pretty sound refute if you ask me. You could find a code in every translation of the Bible, a copy of Plato, Shakespeare, Milton, Crime and Punishment, heck probably even what few essays I have on the web. The ELS phenomena is statistically unavoidable in any book reaching a given size in any alphabetical or syllabic writing system.

There isn't a code, just a predictable mathematical phenomena.

It's not as good as the secret decoder ring given in when you join a church so that you can understand the religious jargon and hide it from the public :D.

What is interesting is that there is a market for such garbage - interesting and sad.
Like any other good conspiracy. Are you refuting everything skeptical?

Real quick in case people don't know ELS is equidistant letter sequence. The Moby dick code was a refute written useing the book Moby Dick to prove the same theories. Michael Drosnin is the guy running around making all the noise (or most of it )about Bible phophcies. I would say that from I read I don't think it holds water either. It does however fill a need for those of faith and this may be a reason for it's success. One of the bigger critiisms of both Judism and Christanity is the question of why God was writing up a storm centuries ago and has writer's block today. ELS is a theory that fills in that gap for believers.

I'm not at all sure that I understand either sentence. Try again and I'll do my best to answer.
Conspiracies are not proven but could be true like the Bible Codes or Dick Tracy's Assasinations. My point was using that as a rebuttal holds no weight. And my thought is that if something is unproven in your eyes then it's not true. And you can use whatever definition you want on truth. I'm trying to poke at your arguement as slim, cause I know you have better than what you have posted.

Conspiracies are not proven but could be true ...
Leprechauns are not proven but could be true.
Alien abductions are not proven but couod be true.
Past life regression is not proven but could be true.
Unicorns are not proven but could be true.
Yetis are not proven but could be true.
Panspermia are not proven but could be true.
The Daoine Sidhe is not proven but could be true.

Depending on what is meant by 'truth', the class of those things that are unproven but could be true is infinite and, for the most part, filled with absurdities. You are free to champion any or all of them, but the burden of proof is yours, not mine.

I never argued any of them or this subject as proof. You provided a rebuttal to something you believe is unproven, in which I wanted proof of this being un true.

that is doable.....as a group. Have to download the software and see who can get it going. All we have to do is find something we know is untrue coded in the bible and the theory is a wash. Some good ideas may be:

1) Kerry wins presidency in 2004
2) US finds WMD in Iraq
3) Bush loses 2nd term
4) us abolishes drinking age (pick any year in past)
5) Germany selects french as its new national language (lol had to say that)

or an abbaration or a true statement

1) US space shuttle launches for titan nov (as opposed to dec)
2) no civlians killed in iraq war
3) bush grows a gotee and dies it pink
4) fidel castro runs for american presidency
or blantent ideas accpeted as false in the bible

1) jesus is not the savior
2) god smokes cuban cigars
3) zeus is the supreme god
4) the atheists are right about god

If things like this are found only two theories remain

1) the findings are random as opposed to preplaced
2) the Bible which is without error to believers, is wrong in some ELS's.

I offered no rebuttal. What I offered was an expose of a methodology. Want what you wish, proof has relevance only in the realms of math, logic, law and liquor.

First off, I think I have some chicken bones around here that may or may not prove the code is true!! LOL! I wanted to see if that was a real consept in computer magic, but I came away seeing just another $$$$ making deal! The Kabbala is based mostly on the same premise and I don't put any stock in that at all!:jiggy:

As to the above quotes, Carl Sagan has written about the phenomenon of UFO's, bigfoot and other strange sightings as part of our ancient psycic manifestations like banshies, leprekauns, unicorns and many other mental projections. I tend to agree with him. Carl was at one time back in the 60's a bigfoot hunter and I guess he learned very quickly about the reality, the human mind is very powerful and unpredictable! :woohoo:

I've always been skeptical about the bible codes, especially since that rediculous book came out by Michael Drosnin. He doesn't even include real referances, just crossword puzzles with random Hebrew letters.
