great stories of holy books and the tsunami

There are two theories of great stories of holy books in general.

1) they are inspired by God and transcribled by man
2) they were written by man.

If one buys into # 2 than the question is how much of the proposed story is true and how much is added in to spice-up the story and give it an inspirational and religious edge?

In the case tsunami's it is undoublty one of the greatest and most tragic event created by nature, and thus perhaps by God by believers, in the last 1/2 century. The kind of natural event that could inspire gospels and stories of Gods presenting their will fighthing good versus evil and the possible triumph of morals and evil or evil versus God versus the world.

This could be the sodom and gomorrah or tower of babel of today. If you were such a writer..one who wanted to inspire the hearts and emotions for centuries to come from an acutal event and promote the God (of your choice) what would be an outline for presenting the great tsunamis of recent and how it relates to God and a new gospel.

You are right there are many great stories in the Bible. The New Testament accounts (Matt. thru.John) are all accounts given by different men but are essentially the same story. If you ask several people to give an account on...say an accident...the versions do differ but if each tell the truth the essence of the story will be the same. Thus it's the same with the gospels...just to mention a portion of the Bible.

I don't know what most think as for tsunamis go but to me it's not a sent action of God for some wronged deed by the people. It's just part of the make up of the world and how it functions. If these people had chosen to live elsewhere they would not have been affected by this great tragedy..they just chose to live in a region where these things can happen.

I believe the Gospels were given to these men to be written down by God and were to be told precise and as I see it they were. Men may have penned them but they were written by God.:)

perhaps the story that will be told of this will higlight humanities resolve to survive in the face of natural disaster... or perhaps our endless capacity to want to repopulate dangerous areas ;)

In the bible Jesus said the sign of the "last days" was earthquakes all around the planet along with wars, famine, etc.

There was a divine earthquake when Korah's family went into the earth for their poor judgement.
There was a divine earthquake when the apostles were in Jail and the doors of the jail flung open.
There was a divine earthquake when Jesus died and wrecked the temple.
There was a divine earthquake that rolled away the boulder that was in front of Jesus' tomb.

Matthew 24:7; Luke 21:11 - "signs of the 'Last Days'"

Amos 1:1; Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 27:54, 28:2; Acts 16:26
