VA (finally) allows Wiccan symbols on headstones

I'm so glad to see that the VA has finally accepted the Pentacle :) I find it sad, however, that it's taken this long to do so.

It's not cut off at the bottom. That's how the symbol is supposed to be. I think it symbolizes something about not all can be known or is known or something like that. I forget exactly.

Heh...how about that. You learn something new every day.

Good. I am not particularly fond of Wiccan teachings or practices, although I must admit to being quite ignorant on the subject, but they have every right to have the Wiccan symbol on their headstones. I don't understand how they could have denied them this right for so long? Freedom of religion?

A lot of people don't know about our beliefs and practices, and still hold onto old fashioned sterotypes (that we've sold our souls to the Devil and whatnot). If you, anyone, has any questions please head on over to the Pagan board and we'll be more than happy to answer :)

That's wonderful to hear! I've been trying to follow this story and I was wondering if it had ever happened! That's really good!!

I already thought is was allowed nation-wide. I could've sworn I read and article on RF that mentioned that (or maybe it was one of my books), as Wicca is an accepted religion in the military, protected under the Constitution, and even has a chapter dedicated to it in the military chaplin's handbook or whatever. This article even included that the athiest A was included.

You are correct. Wicca is an accepted religion in the military (though not necessarily by individual commanders or chaplains) and there is a chapter dedicated to it in the military chaplain's handbook. However, we are still unable to have a military chaplain.

Next steps: a military chaplain, Mjolnnir's hammer, and symbols for all other Pagan religions!!

I wasn't sure where to put it, and the last thread dealing with the subject was in Political Debates, so I just took their word for it.
