Make? You know my largest God is Nature right?

I didn't create the plants outside. Or the sun and the moon.

Then you are happy to live under nature's theocratic law, which we all do anyway, when we do not mess with it.

IMHO, it is all from the One God.

Oh, so like Iran.

Yeah, still not a fan. Again, governing by "God's law" sounds great till the government has a different view of what God's law says.

No nothing like Iran, As none of the elected representatives are representatives of a Faith, they are representatives of the Nation.

I'm just curious how people here feel about theocracies. Would you prefer that your country had a state sponsored religion who's laws are structured around that religion?

I would choose theocratic, if it means that only law would be the ten commandments from the Bible.

Only if people make it one, otherwise I have found God is all wise and all knowing.

As such it is only humans that have troubles sorting out these issues.

The combination I offered, was men ruling the nations, but including, of their own choice, God's Laws and morals.

Thus the Faiths can work in harmony with the elected rulers of the nations.

Regards Tony

What if they don't have a choice?

What if the rule of man requires you to do things not in line with your faith?
Or the opposite... what if the rule of man prohibits you from doing things that are required by your faith?

I don't understand.
Are you saying that in your vision, the elected representatives should be representatives of religions and not of the citizens?

Yes, the 'modern-day definition' of theocracy is: rule by clergy or clergy class.
However, that is Not the theocracy (God Rule) that Jesus promoted - Daniel 2:44
There is a BIG difference.
Jesus' view was Not a human version of a god ruling over everybody.
Rather, Jesus as King of God's theocratic Kingdom is No human's version.
Jesus, also as Prince of Peace will usher in global Peace on Earth among person's of goodwill.

The detail please. What is ‘God’s theocratic Kingdom’? If it isn’t a human version then tell us in detail what it actually is.

I do not think people can truly answer this question as humanity has never had a ‘divinely guided’ government from God. All of the so called ‘theocracies’ were man made just like any other system of governance such as democracy or communism, papacy etc

Baha’u’llah claimed that He brought the Kingdom of God but it has yet to become a state religion. We do have some basic idea of the future Baha’i World Commonwealth.

I might be open to a theocracy. I favor many pantheons, and can see many directions this could go.

And just like that, your pantheon was just outlawed and you declared a blasphemer and infidel as you are whisked off for stoning.

I would choose theocratic, if it means that only law would be the ten commandments from the Bible.

In my humanist world, you could live according to those laws and I could do otherwise. In your world, I'm a criminal. I'm assuming from your comment that you're OK with that.

Humanity looking after their affairs based on the laws and morals given by God.

We can do better than that. Many already do.

the Faiths can work in harmony

No, they can't.

No nothing like Iran, As none of the elected representatives are representatives of a Faith, they are representatives of the Nation.

No, they stand for their understanding of what their god commands, or whatever words they care to put in its mouth.

How do we know that a "divinely guided" government is even possible, given that all theocracies were man made in the past?
