They are... as long as you remember that 1. They are indeed, your saviors, and 2. as such, only they get to decide what is or isn't obscene.

The GOP is not the problem, but a victim of it.
The problem, as I see it, in the injection of religion into politics.
Hear me out:
For a society composed of thousands/millions of individuals to survive, certain compromises must be made. "Politics" is the art of arranging those compromises.
By definition, nobody is entirely satisfied in a compromise: "I want A, B, and C... I can get more A and B if I agree to help those people get their X, Y, and Z... but to do that, I'll use up the last of my C... oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad..."
But what happens when you believe that your political position is influenced by a religion, specifically a religion that teaches that anything not of the religion is evil and must be destroyed?
Now, it's "GOD says I deserve A, B, and C... and since those people have X, Y, and Z, they are my enemy! Only A, B, and C are allowed... the very existence of X (and we won't even talk about Y and Z) is an affront to nature and must be eliminated!"
There can be no compromise with such a god... or with such people who believe their doing the will of such a god.
And without compromise, nobody gets anything... except someone to blame.

Does anyone remember the COVID shut downs and which states were the most hypocritical and oppressive? Nancy Pelosi tells everyone to stay home while she gets her hair done. NY business owners are sent to jail trying to stay open. The Governor of NY kills thousands of elderly with a bad call, and he is made man of the year. That is the Left for you. Luckily the two Liberal Cuomo brothers were brought to justice and fired.
COVID gave an excuse to be oppressive and one side took advantage of this opportunity. This was a good long experiment ,so people can see who is still projecting and denying.
The shakeup at Twitter is causing the Left to over do their damage control.

Wait, that must be a new definition of "oppression". Saving the lives of others is now "oppressive". I am not sure if that will catch on.

With a large enough sense of entitlement, any inconvenience becomes "oppression."
