Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago dinner guest:

Guitar's Cry

Disciple of Pan
It is pathetic how desperate the left is to associate this guy with Trump. Trump didn't invite the guy. Trump didn't know who he was when he showed up. This story has no legs.

The problem is he has a habit of associating with folks like "that guy." Whether Trump has the same beliefs as the folks he associates with is irrelevant in a way. He clearly uses this association in order to endear himself to those who hold this ideology.

At some point, it becomes ridiculous to listen to his excuses and pretend that he is ignorant of this connection.

These left-wing attacks on Trump are becoming more and more desperate, as 2024 draws near.

Honestly… the dinner table can be a great place to meet people, get to know them, set aside your differences, find common ground, conduct diplomacy, build bridges and network with people, negotiate and compromise, make peace with enemies, exchange views, strengthen ties with allies, and extract information. Or even, just laugh and have a good time.

It mean it’s like people here behave as if they’ve never been to parties or cookouts before. You aren’t going to see eye to eye with every person in attendance. Some people there might even hate each other. There might be people there whose views are absolutely repulsive to you. You can all still sit down and dine together and control what you think, say, and do, and get something beneficial out of it.
Do you regularly invite white supremacists to your dinner table? You know, just to shoot the breeze and share ideas?

I don't know about you, but I'm not much interested in what bigots have to say.

Has anyone else wondered why black rapper Kanye West was hanging out with white nationalist Nick Fuentes?

Yeah, I sort of wondered about that myself, although I guess he now calls himself a "Christian nationalist," although even the jargon is a bit screwy. "Nationalist" refers to "nation" and "nationality," but Christian is not a nationality. It's probably closer to "American nationalism," related to the overall "America First" position, though it's hard to characterize because there's so many disjointed elements which make it up.

Employing these other terms does not mean he isn’t a white nationalist. As far as I know he is a avowed white nationalist, even if he has also used the term Christian nationalist.

This guy is every bad thing you can think of. A racist white supremacist, a anti-Semitic Islamophobic religious bigot, a white nationalist xenophobe, a misogynistic incel and and anti-lgbtq bigot. And he is out in the open about all this because he is also a troll.

The point is, they can call themselves whatever they want. The labels seem to be a large part of the argument, and I agree with your second paragraph. There definitely is an ultra-far-right malignant element to it all - nationalistic, fascistic, anti-Semitic, bigoted. But it also ostensibly uses elements of Americanism, "America First," Christianity to try to pull in a wider audience directed a sub-section of America which gravitates towards that message anyway. American history itself also contains a great deal of bigotry, racism, nationalism, and of course, Christian history also contains similar elements as well.

I don't know if this explains why a white nationalist is hanging out with Kanye West - or why Trump is hanging out with either of them.

Why Nick is hanging out with Kanye? Because Kanye is famous and Nick can exploit that for a publicity. Why is Kanye hanging out with Nick? I don't know, maybe mental illness.

Trump invited these guys because Trump is an idiot and a bigot, these horrible ideas appeal to Trump.
