So, the Governor-Elect and current Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has filed a lawsuit against three members of the Cochise County Board of Supervisors over their refusal to certify the election results. There were a couple of other counties in Arizona which did certify the results, but said they did so "under duress," as they claimed they were threatened with arrest and jail if they refused to certify.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -- The Cochise County Board of Supervisors held an emergency meeting Tuesday afternoon, after Democratic governor-elect and current Secretary of State Katie Hobbs filed a lawsuit when Republican election officials refused to certify their election results by Monday’s deadline.

“Cochise County had a statutory duty to certify the results of the 2022 General Election by today,” Hobbs tweeted Monday, along with photos of the lawsuit.

By unanimous decision, the board of supervisors voted to obtain a Phoenix-based law firm to represent them. When asked how they planned to pay for the legal representation to go up against the governor-elect, the answer was murky at best. The board of supervisors cannot legally accept any outside donations to pay for the lawsuit or for any other purpose. Deputy County Administrator Sharon Gilman said that Bryan Blehm with Valley Law Group was chosen to represent the board during the meeting and did not have any confirmation regarding payment by private sources for the case.

The Secretary of State’s lawsuit said the Cochise County Board of Supervisors was required to canvass the election by Monday but “failed to take this required action.” The lawsuit added the Secretary of State’s office won’t have a choice but to complete the canvass by Dec. 5 without the rural county’s votes. That would threaten to flip the victor in at least two close races — a U.S. House seat and state schools chief — from a Republican to a Democrat. “The Board’s inaction not only violates the plain language of the statute, but also undermines a basic tenet of free and fair elections in this state: ensuring that every Arizonan’s voice is heard,” a portion of the lawsuit reads.

The lawsuit asks the Cochise County Superior Court to order officials to certify by Thursday. Failing to certify would undermine the will of the county’s voters “and sow further confusion and doubt about the integrity of Arizona’s election system,” lawyers for Hobbs wrote. “The Board of Supervisors had all of the information they needed to certify this election and failed to uphold their responsibility for Cochise voters,” Sophia Solis, a spokeswoman for Hobbs, said in an email.

Arizona law requires county officials to approve the election canvass, and lawyers in several counties warned Republican supervisors they could face criminal charges for failing to carry out their obligations. Cochise County officials had highlighted issues with ballot printers in Maricopa County. Meanwhile, Maricopa County officials said everyone had the chance to vote, and all ballots were counted.

Cochise County is in the southeastern corner of the state of Arizona, bordering Mexico on the south and New Mexico to the east. It's where Tombstone is located, along with Fort Huachuca, a large US Army base. The county's namesake, Cochise, was a famed Apache leader and warrior.

I wonder what Cochise would say about all of this squabbling. Perhaps he would find it somewhat amusing.

Election defeat denial seems to be a leading policy on the GOP's manifesto.

Meanwhile in California there are two Congressional House district elections that have not been completed three weeks after election day.

The GOP candidates weren't defeated in Cochise county. Ciscomani and other Republican candidates won in the county.

Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a Democrat who narrowly won the race for governor, asked a judge to order county officials to canvass the election, which she said is an obligation under Arizona law.

So, are those GOP wins being denied certification?
Actually, yes. If the Cochise votes aren't in the totals Ciscomani, for one, would not win.

But this whole story is a tempest in a teapot. The County supervisors received complaints from some of its constituents about irregularities. They delayed certification until they could investigate. They will likely certify the results on Friday. Some people, on both sides, are just trying to make political hay.

And their wins won't mean anything if the votes aren't certified. So it is democrats doing their civil duty to help republicans have their votes counted, and it is MAGAs trying to hold on to the last vestage of the Big Lie by sabotaging democracy. Everyone can see who is the ethical actors in this situation, and it is not the MAGAs. I hope the only think these MAGAs sabotage is their own political futures, as citizens will surely get tired of this drama and unnecessary nonsense.

The irregularities were typical equipment malfunctions. Solutions were found and the voters still voted. Have you seen videos of some citizens calling the election board in Maricopa as trators and criminals in an open comment event? These MAGAs are crazy and have no credible complaints or assertions.

If that process is supposedly so flawed, then every single politician elected in that county should announce that it's quite possible that they didn't win. Please let me know when that happens.

They "know" there was election fraud, and they "know" they won. Keri Lake was not ashamed to accounce her win before the election ever happened. Too bad for her the voters didn't agree.
