Democrat charged with wide scale election fraud in Philly. Pleads guilty.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Yup. Neither 'side' should be getting too self-righteous in any binary sense.
Exactly. A little counterbalance thread to keep things on an even keel so it dosent go to one's head that their affiliations are somehow the apex becon and example of morality and honesty in politics.

Money and power corrupts absolutely has no such preference.

I sincerely wish for the USA that your political system was more accommodating to third parties or independents.
Our two main stream parties have been steadily losing vote share over the last 20 years to independents or alternative parties, and it's been good, overall, for our democracy imho. This doesn't clearly show the change in voting habits, as it's just a count of seats won (so doesn't account for the increasing role of smaller party preferences in determining winners) but still, it's somewhat suggestive of what's happening here;

2022 - 16 lower house seats out of 151 won outside the 2 main parties
2022 Federal Election - AEC Tally Room

2019 - 6 lower house seats out of 151 won outside the 2 main parties
2019 Federal Election - AEC Tally Room

2016 - 5 lower house seats of out 150 won outside the 2 main parties
2016 Federal Election - AEC Tally Room

Not a concerted, on-going party-wide attempt at circumventing the electoral process, now, was it.
