The quest to save the swastika.

Hitler’s Swastika is different to the Dharmic variant. It’s turned on it’s side, whereas the Dharmic one is turned on an angle. Well typically.
It’s actually a universally used symbol in history
So yes I hope they are allowed to keep it
My local temple uses it freely. I have a cousin actually named Swastika. (Family is Hindu.)
And Hitler did use the Cross too.
Where I live (Victoria, Australia) there has recently been a ban implemented on private displays of the Swastika. Practically that applies to them in the context of pro-Nazism (there are plenty of swastikas in my house, due to my extensive library of books both from and about WW2).
What might be relevant to this discussion is the following, taken from an explanation of the legislation provided by the government.
The Bill recognises the cultural and historical significance of the swastika for the Buddhist, Hindu, Jain and other faith communities as an ancient and sacred symbol of peace and good fortune. The Bill does not prohibit the display of the swastika in such religious and cultural contexts.
The ban will be supported by a community education campaign to raise awareness of the origins of the religious and cultural swastika, its importance to the Buddhist, Hindu and Jain communities and its distinction to the Nazi symbol.

Try to tell that to people who have been persecuted by the Nazis.
The Swastika is still used extensively in India and can be seen in public everywhere.
I remember getting a wedding invitation from India and there was big red Swastika right on the envelope. I don't know what the postman thought of it!

I feel the same way about the cross and the pentagram. They are all cherished by some and hated by others, they have multiple meanings depending on what individual or culture embraces them, and they all tell deep stories of humanity and human nature.

Yes, it's past time for people to learn how to put things into context here. My original Facebook account I had for over a decade was permanently deleted because I posted a sunwheel to honor the changing of the seasons a couple of years ago, because they thought it had something to do with violent groups, and never responded to my messages. (But then I report actual neo-Nazi groups and individuals on FB and they do nothing at all about them. Hmm.
)
The context obviously matters...as pretty much everyone has said. Claiming the swastika is beautiful when denoting Nazism...yeah, nah.

Music fans - European ones anyway - of my generation tended to associate the Confederate flag with Lynyrd Skynyrd, who regularly appeared on stage in front of one. Nobody thought Skynyrd were white supremacists, just a bunch of “good ol’ boys” proud of their Southern roots. More innocent, optimistic times, maybe.
When Scottish rockers Primal Scream used an image of a neon version on one of their albums, the controversy it caused in the US surprised most people over here. And probably a lot of people in America to.

I'd hope the person in question isn't claiming to be a Nazi. And if they are...well...
I agree and I am a first place member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and second place Raelian. That means if there's something the church doesn't specify, I can choose the Raelian thing.
They have a symbol with a swastika in a star of David, the swastika meaning from the Eastern religions like you said. I don't wear it, but I might start wearing it again when people 15+ years old are the only ones present.
